Diane Abbott apologises in 'race' row

Not sure why this is a case of double standards. She is all over the news facing calls to resign from sections of the press, the Lib Dems, and the Tories. Seems to me some are projecting whatever issues they have with how race is handled in this country and projecting them onto this specific case.

Some are of course still racist, just as some people with skin every colour of the rainbow are racist.

There's no excuse for it whatever your skin colour nor the skin colour of the group you're directing it towards.

Call me strange but lumping everyone of a certain skin colour together and equating them with murderers strikes me as pretty clear cut racism.

They were, but there have been instances where people were fired for less.

Unless she just wanted people talking. She posted those comments, and whether you read them in context or not, she knows that there are areas of the media that would publish them out of context.

I may not necessarily agree with all her views, but I don't think Diane Abbot is stupid.

I don't agree with your initial statement, I have different take on divide and rule.

This is a story where the white folks can say - oh see those ..... (any slur will do) can say whatever they want and there is no punishment. However, if we say it, we would get the sack.

Really, really - I have seen and read transcripts of cases were white folk have said and done some deplorable acts and have kept there jobs.

I bet, conveniently enough, you can provide no evidence or links which back this up.

I would be very VERY surprised if any of that could be proven.

When I worked in England earlier this year my HR Head took me to one side and asked if I wanted to take action against a colleague of mine who referred to me as "Taff". I told her I didn't care and was not interested in anything like that.

Yes I'm aware of the huge difference between a Welsh person being called that and a black person being called n***** but it shows that today companies are very racially sensitive.

I'd say it was extremely relevant. This line has been used many times today but it still stands, what if a white person had made that sort of comment about blacks?

It seems that Diane Abbot can make that sort of comment about whites but people like David Starkey rightly gets condemned for it.

Far as i am concerned she has made a racist comment and should not be given the chance to resign, She should be sacked now.

In my opinion it's comments from twerps like her that keep the racism arguments flowing .In one sweeping statement she has effectively accused all white people of being racist .Sure there are some white racists but equally and largely because of idiots like her there are black racists
