In my obvious ignorance to these types of matters, that's what I was thinking - it'll just make them try harder (or use different methods) to avoid capture/detection.

There's a very simple way to prevent them and others from drug dealing full stop... regulated, taxed and controlled sales at licensed shops.

so that will be regulated ,taxed and controlled mayhem then .These orders aren't just for drug dealers but for any serious crime and are not designed to prevent the original crime just make it harder to return to crime on release and as Russ has said earlier anyone prepared to break laws that put that person in the serious criminal bracket will laugh at such measures, but as Derek said these just make it easier to put them back in jail

Yep,just like all hell broke lose when the US ended alcohol prohibition... oh,hang on
The reason drug 'crime' is largely possible is due to prohibtion, and resulting from that is a lack of control over sales and distribution.
Cue underground dealers to meet the demand. It's all simple economics, really. But I'm sure this new, powerful crime-fighting tool will have Britain drug free in no time at all.... just like all the others before it.

Haha,that's a good one Martyh
Of course it's totally on topic and a major reason behind much crime in this country. However I appreciate your lack of knowledge on the subject and shall give you sufficient time to catch up!

The Admins and Mods will decide what is and isn't on-topic and this one has decided that although it's a worthy of a discussion, the legalisation (or not) of drugs would be off-topic here.

Re: Serious Crime Prevention Orders ..
I think the argument is that this thread is for discussion of Serious Crime Prevention Orders, which can be handed out for but aren't limited to drugs offences. As such, legalisation of drugs is off-topic in this thread.
As stated, anyone wishing to start a thread on legalisation is free to do so?
