Why do people think that VM will get a better deal with services like Lovefilm , Netflix if it were to launch etc than customers with a PS3 , connected TV or other device. Surely Lovefilm stands to gain more customers on sub free devices.

VM should be doing deals with various content providers, getting the best deals they can, giving viewers a choice between monthly subscriptions and pay per view. The more content we can secure the more we can search for on the TIVO box. There must be deals to be done with the BBC, ITV, and Channel 4 in particular for archived material. It could be so much better than the present offering, I can't understand why it is all taking so long. By the time VM do a deal, there will be other means of getting to this material.
The new internet TVs are a good example of how events are already starting to overtake VM in this important new world.

A SeeSaw app would be nice even if most of the content is on VTV Choice.

Thank you, denphone, that's reassuring. However, they need to move fast, imo.

Internet TV's , Blu Ray players and Games consoles now have catchup tv , PPV movie services , 3D streaming , games , news , radio and many other apps all available sub free (apart from cost of PPV movies ) I've used Acetrax PPV and it was a painless experience.

Lovefilm are on board with Youview which launches next year. Film4 OD is on board with Youview too. Unless Virgin move soon to agree some deals, Youview will launch with a better offering than Virgin.

In my mind, this year. However, I don't think it will happen for at least two years, by which time we will be well lagging behind again.

Film4oD is what is used on Virgin's website so they already have some sort of deal and they already deal with filmflex. I'd say they have a pretty good film on demand library now, all that is missing is Sky Movies on Demand for those that have Sky Movies but then with TiVo you can pretty much just record the whole schedule anyway.

Re: Could Virgin Launch new TV channels for TiVo Only?
I'd be interested to see if Virgin offer any internet exclusive TV packages than can only be accessed via TiVo. For example Polish or Chinese customers could buy a TiVo app that allows them to watch native Polish or Chinese channels by way of internet stream through their TiVo box.

Re: Could Virgin Launch new TV channels for TiVo Only?
Looks like the Sportify TV App will be for the TiVo boxes only,
Virgin Media will also be the only digital entertainment provider in the UK to integrate Spotify into its TV offering through its cutting-edge ‘connected’ TV service powered by TiVo, as well as being able to provide a bundled solution for customers with Virgin Mobiles.
Virgin Media customers enjoying Virgin Media TV powered by TiVo®, the UK’s first next-generation ‘connected’ TV service, will be able to enjoy their Spotify service through a jointly developed app for subscribers.
So is this the start of what's to come, any new serivces like Sportify will go onto the TiVo box only.

I doubt whether their other boxes would be up to it.
