Don't get me wrong, they've got more balls than I ever will and I certainly support any mark of respect to those who die in battle but when people say "they're fighting for our country" and "giving their lives for us", there's something wrong there.
They're not fighting for our country - we're not at war with anyone. Forget the "War on Terror", that's just a soundbite and is no more valid than a domestic "war on drugs".
Sure they're fighting a conflict, and many are tragically being killed as a result. They deserve recognition and respect for that and I wear a poppy with pride around each Rememberance day. But fighting for our country? Giving their lives for us? I don't buy that.

Can't disagree, Russ,
but in my eyes they represented their country and were bought back to home turf with respect.
If the folks of Wootton Bassett feel that their patriotism has been recognised and are glad about it then so am I.

Sorry I have to disagree entirely especially in regards to your words on War on Terror. We are at war with terrorists who view us as an enemy..7/7 proved that and the 55 civilian lives lost as a result.Just because the war on terror they are fighting is in another country makes their sacrifice no less tragic.
