Re: Sky Sports HD3/HD4
They just changed Soccer Saturday to being on Sky Sports News only after it's been simulcast on SS1 for years. Not too concerned about the loss of HD fo that because it's just in a studio but it's another kick in the balls for BT customers.

Sky love their little games and ofcom seem powerless to stop them from playing them.
For years sky have made good use of BTS phone lines and now BT get access to sky sports 1 and 2 sky seem to be throwing their toys out of the pram again, good grace is not in their vocabulary sadly.
When big buisiness does this only one person suffers the poor consumer who can do f-ck about it as always.
As for sky sports HD 3/4 in about five years if ofcom are still around expect another 3 year pay tv review that would be 2015 with the conclusions in 2018 with vm possibly getting access to these channels in 2019 or am i being too cynical.LOL As if.

for a programme that only has text and a few old footballers do we really need it in HD ? We still get the programme so no real loss there

Re: Sky Sports HD3/HD4
It doesn't matter what program it is, Sky are changing the channels of programs soley to either stop BT from watching it altogether or to stop us from watching it in HD, eg. football league. Last year most games were on 1 or 2 especially if premier league wasn't on, today Norwich was on HD3 and Horse Jumping or whatnot on HD2. It's just not on.

I kind of agree that Sky are playing the games but Sky do have more games to show this year with more PL games, SPL, Carling Cup, Champs League, Football League and so on they can not show all on 1&2 even when games kickoff at same time from different leagues.
Sky tried last year to show game after game but they always had either a cross over of clash of times and this year is going to be no different.
All I know is all PL games are on either 1/2 subject to last game of the season were it will show more than 2 games.

Re: Sky Sports HD3/HD4
Thinking on your comments of having many games to show, I wonder what the chances are of Multiscreen or whatever the Sky Sports Red button is named, being in HD when it arrives (based on MB's list)

being the 1st game of the new season they could have shown it on 1 or 2 I agree with the OP and it is typical of Sky

Red Button will be in time for Champs League and I think I recall its Sky Sports 2 thats has the multi screen function for Champs League and Sky Sports 1 for Football first.

Re: Sky Sports HD3/HD4
Well its the same for me too i sub to sky sports for the cricket mainly, and took HD on a months trial to see how good it really was and lo and behold sky put a pro 40 match on sky sports 3 and HD 3 whilst i could watch the match the HD was not available to me.doh!
So its not just football fans that think they are being played around,re-skys tricks you only have to look at skys ad for its new HD sports news channel, when the presenter says its going from freeview ie BT he positively gloats, now if thats not sky sticking two fingers up to BT vison viewers i do not know what is,yes i am sure sky may have some more "little" games in store yet, pity no one seems powerful enough to stop them sadly.
By the way football fans i understand your frustration that early season championship matches have been on HD3 sports, but please remember once the season starts properly most of the matches will be on HD1 and HD2,there are other subs as well that may sub for the golf, tennis,or cricket at certain times that would also love to see the match in HD so its not all about football .

Re: Sky Sports HD3/HD4
SSN PRESENTER #1: Good news! Most of you watching this channel won't be able to for much longer!
SSN PRESENTER #2: That's great news! Isn't that great news?
SSN PRESENTER #1: Indeed! And....we have some BREAKING NEWS!
SSN PRESENTER #2: SSN sources have exclusively revealed that SSN going High-Def!
SSN PRESENTER #1: And most of you won't be able to watch that either!
SSN PRESENTER #2: Aren't we great?
SSN PRESENTER #1: We rock!
SSN PRESENTER #2: At Sky, we believe in better!
SSN PRESENTER #1: Better ways to restrict our content; hold back HD versions of our channels whenever possible from other platforms; and making you pay for stuff which was previously free on terrestrial TV.
SSN PRESENTER #2: And if you're already paying for it....
SSN PRESENTER #1: ...well find some way of making you pay more. Eventually!
SSN PRESENTER #2: Sky. Believing in better...
SSN PRESENTER #1: ...profits and less competition.

Re: Sky Sports HD3/HD4
Oh and boy are they making everyone pay for it. The average pub subscription has risen to above 15k per season, my local pay over 22k per season and the average price hike (despite SKY saying it is between 8-11%) is actually around the 20% per annum. (Source to follow)

Re: Sky Sports HD3/HD4
you have to love that SSN HD promo ad, its just cringe worthy really.
Actually trying to make its removeal from Freeview sound like a good thing is just stupid.
