Not always the case!

Been with VM and before that with Telewest (for a good few years), have not had to ring up their tech support service once!

Cannot fault the service, and hearing a story likes yours makes me think i wanna get the 50mb now!

Re: Just upgraded to 50MB

Got my hands on 50MB yesterday about 11:00am, and spent the rest of the day sorting it out. Will share the story (ending is somewhat happy :-) but there was some sadness and frustration in between.
Technician (good!) installed so that cable modem/router connected by ethernet cable to this, my main desktop. All installed no probs. Got 44-45Mb on his tests.
Then came the tricky bit - VM supplies a free "wireless N USB" stick by D-link to have your highspeed broadband wireless. As I want my system of two laptops and one PC to be completely wireless, and as the PC is only a coupla metres away from the router, I proceeded to install the dongle. Hours went by as I attempted to set up internet/network access for ALL users on this Win7 PC. But to no avail. Only the main/admin user got it. Resorted to ethernet and uninstall, because..........
Laptop #2 got Blue Screen Of Death upon activating WLAN switch. Uh Oh!! This took even longer to sort out, restore and recover. Eventually succeeded in disabling the wireless, and got a normal boot happening. Install of the dongle on that laptop proved straightforward. And it works on other users too.
Result - ethernet PC, two wireless laptops. FYI - both iPhone and xBox needed to have SSID/WEP keys re-entered despite me using exactly the same of both for old and new network.
Happy bunny here! 35Mb or thereabouts all day today on the ethernet. About 17Mb on my "g" laptop. About 38-39Mb on "n" laptop. 16 (yep 16!!) on iPhone - howzatt?!? Upload is awesome at around 1.5Mb everywhere - did a YouTube tonight and it blistered my eyes!!
