Re: 50 meg NETGEAR WNR2000 can i slow down?
The 360 isn't going to be killing downstream speed unless downloading stuff onto it. Might be eating all the upstream mind.
I have not seen any issues with other consoles causing problems, however I don't play games that are too upstream heavy as I am aware I'm a VM customer and the upstream sucks
Who knows we may see something about these 10Mbit upstreams that have been mentioned soon.

Ahhh now we have a winner
It can't shape per port downstream unfortunately, and QoS only works upstream. It's a crap router but VM give them to us as they are cheap.
He may mess with your downstream a bit but so long as browsing and stuff are still working ok and whatever you are doing is reasonably fluid all is ok ya?

Re: 50 meg NETGEAR WNR2000 can i slow down?
im using BitComet which is giving me the problem, after download a any think with it, it knocks 40meg off my speed .. ( speed test site ) gives me only >>10<< meg.
using modem on own which gives me 50meg with out problems after using bitcomet .
will have to try some other programme/s to download but unsure which will work though the router i try 1 @ a time.

Bet you're uploading at full whack when you're done downloading, which is crippling your download speeds later on.
Check out some of the information on torrent use such as capping seeding speeds to avoid this.
I suspect it's your torrenting that's causing the problem, not his relatively low bandwidth XBL usage.
BitComet is poo by the way, use uTorrent - http://www.utorrent.com/

Re: 50 meg NETGEAR WNR2000 can i slow down?
I was having a similar problem 10meg thru router 50 thru modem .I think broadbandings hinted at my solution but removed the post.
I changed my setup.
go to control panel select network/sharing click on connection view status then properties, should bring up new box, click on configure go to advanced and click on link speed+duplex, now adjust to suit .I chose one(cant remember which)and lost connection, then selected 100mbps half duplex, hey presto green light for computer lan instead of orange-speedtest back up to 50mbps on download.
My internet connectoin-browsing seems way quicker now.
originally my link speed duplex was set to auto negotiate.I`ve restarted computer a few times and connection always comes back green.
Note for any XBOX`ers, the wnr2000 nat setting is defaulted to MODERATE,not OPEN,i think open may be better for xbox connectivity.

When Downloading Torrents Limit the Upload to Minimum 10kb's
When Finished...May sound cheeky but do NOT seed it!..(Continue Uploading)

It does - please seed all torrents to at least a 1:1 ratio where possible. If everyone simply left a torrent as soon as it completed no-one would ever actually get to complete one.
While downloading upload can be limited to 80kB/s or more.
If you don't want to upload use newsgroups, not P2P

Lol I didnt mean for him Never to seed
What i was supposed to say is When you Need your Internet Speed Just Close the Torrent off
Well i Guess Just Do what I do... Leave All the Downloading And Seeding For when I got to bed.. Just my opinion
