I'd go to a dedicated forum, but I like it here, and there's less text speak.

I've had a 360 since launch. Traded my Premium in for an Elite back in November.
I've had a PS3 since December.
IMO...
360 pros -
Cheaper than the PS3.
More games than the PS3.
Currently has more top-notch exclusive games than the PS3.
Xbox Live is brilliant.
Better controller.
360 cons -
The reliability.
THE NOISE.
No Blu-ray (although that doesn't matter if you don't care about HD movies).
Although the console is cheaper than the PS3, accessories are very pricey (e.g. the wireless adapter, the HDDs, wireless headset...).
You have to pay for Xbox Live "Gold" (online multiplayer).
PS3 pros -
Built-in Blu-ray Disc drive.
Built-in WiFi.
Can use any Bluetooth headset.
The HDD can be replaced by the user with any standard 2.5" SATA HDD, without voiding the warranty.
PSN is free.
Super-super-quiet.
Seems to be more reliable than the 360.
PS3 cons -
Costs more than the 360.
PSN is not as good as XBL.
Still no "in-game XMB" (would be the PS3 equivalent of using the 360's Guide to check your Friend List, send/receive messages & invites, etc., while in a game).
Delays to Home.
Crap PSN Store (well, in Europe).
SIXAXIS controller not as good as the 360 controller, & feels too cheap & light. [Although DUALSHOCK3 should be good].
Sony's treatment of Europe.
Still not enough top-notch exclusive games (although there are a few gems).
There are probably others...

Yup, although it is getting better.
The current "Falcon" motherboard (check your PSU, or the wattage rating on the sticker on the cardboard box the console came in... "Falcon" = 175W, older "Zephyr" = 203W) has a few improvements on the "Zephyr" board (which was the first to have HDMI), which itself was an improvement on the "Xenon" board.[Zephyr added HDMI, plus had an additional heatpipe for the GPU. Falcon has a 65nm process CPU instead of 90nm, plus a better heatsink for the GPU].
MS continue to revise things, & the next board after "Falcon" should be even better [65nm process GPU as well as CPU].
Plus, as you said, there's always the warranty (3 years for RROD problems).

Yup, both.
Media-wise, before I got my PS3, my 360 was used for DVDs & HD DVDs, while my old Xbox (running XBMC) was used for divx/xvid etc.
Once the 360 got the ability to play divx/xvid, I retired my XBMC, & started using the 360 for all my media...
... 'till I got my PS3, which now also acts as my DVD player & divx/xvid etc. player (plus games & Blu-ray obviously). 360 is just used for games & HD DVDs now.
Only reason I started using my PS3 for divx/xvid & DVDs instead of the 360 was the noise... it is so much quieter (my Elite is less noisy than my old Premium, but still a jet engine compared to my PS3).
Streaming media from a PC to a 360/PS3 is very easy.
You need Windows Media Player 11 (or another UPnP Media Server such as tversity)... set it to monitor your media folders, set it to share them... & there you go. Also need UPnP enabled on your router, & in Windows.
