i have to say I don't think the mother could have been quite the full ticket. Surely when they bought the house she must have known about the cellar or extra rooms downstairs and when he started putting in a toilet down there didn't she notice ?

Apparently the whole cellar was hidden behind a locked door in the bloke's workshop. Having said that, what I find strange is that 5 people were living upstairs and 4 downstairs. This means you've got a household of 9 rather than 5. You would think that it would be hard to hide the (grocery) shopping for the 4 people living downstairs from the mother. Also, a family of 4 will produce quite a bit of household waste. It just seems strange to me that one wouldn't notice that the volume going in and out of the house is extremely high. Still, we don't know how this family ran their household, so it's all rather speculative.

What I don't get is how come he was missing so much abusing his daughter & the wife didn't have a clue-or was she meek & mild & didn't dare question him!
Instead of these bored teenagers looking for their next innocent victim these depraved perverts should be thrown into a yard with a gang of tough hoodies, kicked, stamped on, battered to death. I am not into gangs onto one person, but in these horrific cases I am. Why the hell they should go to jail & get all the privileges of a Butlins Holiday Camp at the expense of the tax payers!
I may be a gay woman but I am still maternal & detest rapist/paedophiles/abductors of women & children. Give me the gun & I'll pull the trigger-or turn the gas up full-or even pull the handle on the electric chair! IS that the one that finally got him caught? They took one of the children to hospital didnt they? Which was what alerted the authorities.

it looks like the one that is in the coma, who is the 19 year old daughter, is almost certain to die and has also lost nearly ll her teeth as well as the organ failure.

i think if that happens then he will also be charged with murder.

You have to wonder what on earth made this man so warped he would even do this in the first place let alone keep it up for 24 years

Well, the BBC are reporting that he has been found guilty of murder by neglect.
