Sorry I might not have made myself clear. I'm in favour of the death penalty, I was just pointing out the number one reason people give for not bringing it back which doesn't really seem to cover this one as he was clearly 100% guilty.

Well murder is the only real one I can think of (usual disclaimers about absolutely no doubt of guilt etc.)

1: Dithering in the queue at supermarkets.
2: Parking in disabled spaces (when not entitled to).
3: Walking too slowly in city centres during business hours.
4: Ugliness.

I think bandwidth throttling will rank high for some people on here.

but should killing a cop be considered any different to killing a civilian? surely one life is worth the same as another.

True but a copper is putting his/her life on the line everyday to serve and protect us civilians from complete maniacs and there is plenty of them around at the moment. Anyway straying a little off-topic here with this.

Re: Why was this animal not put down.....

I think that the death penalty should be brought back and strictly adhered to in cases where......
1. There is no doubt of the offenders guilt. ie an admission of guilt or evidence of total guilt in a crime in which some innocent party has died through being attacked without provocation.
If they lie about being the one who did it, tough ****.
2. If somebody commits a crime where another loses his /her life through an attack involving a gun or any weapon. Don`t carry guns or knives, its against the law.
3. Anyone caught sexually abusing a child, And Rapists.
4. Anyone who kills a member of the police force.
5. They should also bring back the charge of Treason. Again, punishable by Death.
6. An attack on any member of the royal family should be punished by a life sentence.
I`m sure i can, realistically think of some more but the above one`s are the ones that concern me.
Lets get back to decent Human values and morals. Don`t steal and have respect for yourself and others.

Go on........... Pull it to pieces now with the Human rights act etc, etc.

Can never be 100% sure, though.

Look at all the past miscarriages of justice here & elsewhere...

And look at all the many cases in the US where someone who has been executed has later been found to be the victim of a rather unsafe conviction...

Also doesn't work as a deterrent...

Just lock 'em up, & make sure that "Life" means "Life".

Completely agree, it's worth remembering that over 100 US prisoners have been exonerated whilst on death row since DNA testing was brought in alone

Re: Why was this animal not put down.....

the only time that I would agree to hanging or a lovely needle is if its regarding a pedo. where it is proven via DNA analyses by 3 different police forces in europe.

for rape....chemical castration, or better let the victim yield the blunt knive.
