Re: Sammy 2110 staying standby mode?

Guess what?

It's gone in to F**K it mode again and won't wake up!! Had the update a few weeks ago and all was well, now it's just decided to play silly buggers again!

Remote won't wake it up nor the button on the box, only a reboot will fix it. Thought we'd sorted this problem

Re: Sammy 2110 staying standby mode?

Mine does it every four or five days, I just pull the power and reset it like that.

I just thought it was a standard 'feature'

I bet no other kit you have that's got a standby feature fails to 'wake up' though

Re: Sammy 2110 staying standby mode?

MMMmmm - well my old dvd player used to do it as well.

It's just that I kind of expect this kind of oddity from my virgin box

Re: Sammy 2110 staying standby mode?

I don't know what the update did, but it didn't fix the lock ups.

I haven't come across a digi box yet that hasn't locked up, though my Sky Grundig box didn't seem to.

Re: Sammy 2110 staying standby mode?

Mine just did nothing, the power light stayed red and never went green when using the remote or when pressing the button.

Does anyone know if there is yet any planned fix for the standby/lockup fuction on the samsung 2110c.

I've since had another box since my last post here, the box will reboot fine but being stuck in standby almost twice a week first thing in the morning and constantly having to keep rebooting doesent help.

Cheers

Re: Sammy 2110 staying standby mode?

Mines done it about 3 times since the upgrade, but I hardly watch my box so it sits in standby for days.

I've lost count the number of times i've had to re-set mine, (at least am not the only one)

I have found that it does play up more the next day if i've used Interactive or Video On Demand features from the day before.

Another thing i've noticed just reasently is now and again the box epg guide also seems to lose the track of time, used to do this on my old pace, re-booting it of course clears it

Re: Sammy 2110 staying standby mode?

Don't put STB into standby.

Get a plug-in timer and set it to switch off/on for 1 segment (equals 15 minutes approx) at some convenient time, overnight perhaps.

This solves a lot of problems if you have the misfortune to reside in an area where VM's infrastructure causes these kind of issues with their already shaky DTV platform.

The inherent problems have definately been exacibated by the rediculously substandard VM EPG software. Whoever designed an EPG that almost completely obscures the whole screen with a stupid message to tell you that currently you cant use your remote control, that renders the EPG unusable around 1.00pm, presumably as it downloads a new program guide, needs to be taken round the back and given a good kicking .

There's no remedy for the EPG except to get Sky installed.
