Re: Backing up V+ recordings onto external device

Hi Guys

is there anyway to connect a computer to the V+ box using a t v capture card?
what connections on the V+ box would I be able to use as the previous mail stated that the V+ box only works with the transfer of data VIA scart. then someone posts a mail with a connection to a drive that backs up via usb.

can anyone please clarify this for me.

Re: Backing up V+ recordings onto external device

Connect a SCART lead from the "VCR" SCART socket on the V+ to the DVD recorder.

Press the "V+" button and select "V+ extras", then "copy to DVD". Select the programmes you want to copy.

Start recording on the DVD (make sure you select the right input), then start the copy on the V+.

ps. Welcome to the forum.

Re: Backing up V+ recordings onto external device

Remember to select the appropriate "REC MODE". Something longer than 1 hour will not fit on a DVD in XP mode. Similarly, something longer then 2 hours will not fit on a DVD in SP mode.

The "VCR" SCART socket on the V+. That's the top one if it's made by Samsung, or the bottom one if it's made by Scientific-Atlanta.

You can probably use any on the DVD. Just make sure you select the right one in the menu when you tell it to record.

Re: Backing up V+ recordings onto external device

Looking at the on-line version of the manual for your DVD recorder, I see that it doesn't have a SCART connection. You will need a SCART to composite cable such as this, LINK.
You should be able to pick them up cheaply in the shops. If you simply play back the programme on the V+ as if you were watching it, then which SCART socket shouldn't matter. Basically use the instructions on page 43 of your DVD/VHS recorder, titled "Edit From Another Recorder".

Must be a difference between the US and European versions.
I used this Link on the JVC website.
