Re: Solent Installations- Important Information

Just reported to 151 the fact that nothing has changed.
Explained that many others had same problem.
They told me I was the only one today with the problem !!
Engineer arranged for Thursday morning.
Devil's advocate position........................................
Are we the only 6 out of, say 500 installs, with the problem ?
Hence the reason we write in to this forum, whilst others aren't interested as they're OK !!
Just clutching at straws now !

You could be right Blueview. But it seems to me that we were all posting on this forum before we got are V+ boxes and it seems a big coincidence that we all have exactly the same problem now - its not as if we've started using this forum because are light is flashing on and off.

Will be interesting to see what elmtree's engineer says?
How many complaints do Virgin need to recognise a problem?

Just to reiterate
If your in the Solent region and your light is flashing - COMPLAIN
If its not flashing - PLEASE POST AND LET US KNOW

[QUOTE=ecw199;34226859]You could be right Blueview. I thought that as well a few minutes after I posted.
As a random sample, 5 of the 6 of us posted weeks before we got the boxes. It was mainly to do with the fact our instals were due or cancelled.
Now, after installation, all of us are having the same VOD/flashing light problem.
So the conclusion (of a small sample, agreed) is that the problem is 100% a Solent problem because the other factors involve different towns, different engineers, different instal days and different boxes (unless it's a batch of boxes fault?)

Hello Tijer

Be great if you can let us know what happens and what your engineer says to explain it. (I suspect you'll know more about it than he does)

Don't let him fob you of with 'it will stop flashing within a few hours once the interactive content comes online' because you can be fairly confident that it won't

Re: Solent Installations- Important Information

Welcome to this thread, Tijer,
We await both Elmtree and your reactions to this afternoon's engineers visits. Hopefully they can sort out the light/VOD problem.
If so, what do the rest of us need to do?
If not, what is their diagnosis and treatment?

Re: Solent Installations- Important Information

The good news

Had a v+ installation today, just checked and the online light is on solidly.

The bad news

I have no VOD. Its been this way for a week now (existing box as well) as the samsung wouldn't play VOD. All that happens is a black screen comes up and you can FF/RW, see the time code but not actually see or hear anything on screen...

So I can confirm that there is a solid online light...

Re: Solent Installations- Important Information

Odd, Alexcutts. My V+ has no VOD but my transferred Samsung still does have VOD.
So at least I have the ability to watch VOD and also the new 119 channel.

Tijer and Elmtree - any news yet?

Re: Solent Installations- Important Information

I didn't see your message BlueView.
The engineer came, tried everything including changing boxes but said everything was OK his end, it must be the configuration.
I've just phoned faults again and they say the problem isn't with them and therefore the problem is being routed to 2nd line. I'm now promised a call within 24-48 hrs to resolve.
I'm not confident.

Re: Solent Installations- Important Information

couldnt find the thread so i posted in the other one.

Seems tho from looking at digitalspy that there seems to be a standard problem with new v+ installs...

Re: Solent Installations- Important Information

Screw it...

Anyone with a V+ box in Solent or elsewhere who can't get a lock PM me the MAC or Serial number (SA and a bunch of letters) and I'll check if it's what I think it is.

Re: Solent Installations- Important Information

I've just PM'd my details to BBKing so I hope this helps as there doesn't seem to be anybody getting a sensible answer from the engineers or Customer Services at the moment.

Somebody in Virgin must know how to resolve this!
