Thats the thing, I want true surround sound and not virtual.
Im assuming with this unit you can use virtual surround as above, or move them around the back and set it for true surround, or is just virtual

Yeah they are supposed to go behind you, but i am lazy and use them as virtual, they bounce off the walls to try and give the same effect.

I think you can just make out mine, lol. It's a bit like 'where's wally' with 360's.

Re: Show us your Xbox Setup
Tried to take a pic with my digicam (which I haven't used in months), only to find it doesn't seem to want to work anymore , so I was forced to take this horrible grainy snap with my phone.
Samsung LE26R73BDX 26" HD Ready LCD iDTV
Xbox 360 (VGA, 1360*768)
Standard Sky box (RGB SCART)
Xbox running Xbox Media Centre (Component, 720p)
Crappy old VCR (SCART)
Yamaha DSP-A5 DD/DTS 5.1 amp/receiver
The speakers either side of the TV are Tannoy MX3s. Also got a pair of B&W LM1s for rears, a Tannoy MXC centre (currently out of action , & a Yamaha YST-SW45 sub.

Whats the picture look like on standard definition broadcast? I want to get one eventually but when i go in the shops they always look blocky unless it's an HD broadcast.
Also does it have an equivalent aspect ratio as Sonys SMART mode where it just stretches the outside of the picture on a SD broadcast?

The SD picture quality wasn't as good as my Panasonic CRT (in the 3rd picture), and i live in quite a high signal area, usually around 90-95% signal strength. Like you said, it was pretty blocky, so i didn't bother replacing it for everyday TV viewing with my Panasonic.
Not sure about this SMART mode you're talking about. I only hooked it up to the main aerial for half an hour or so, but i didn't see any black borders or anything, it filled the whole screen up with picture.

Thanks for the info on the blocky picture. This is still the reason i won't change yet.
Smart Mode is where a SD picture is stretched out to fill a widescreen telly, but only the outside left and right edges of the picture are stretched slightly, opposed to a SD picture being completely stretched to fill the screen which i think looks terrible. And i refuse to watch a 4:3(SD) picture with black bars on a 16:9(WS) TV.
Quote:
Smart Mode
When a 4:3 picture is enlarged to the 16:9 format, some parts of the image at the top and bottom of the screen are lost. Smart Mode, a non-linear picture enlargement function, generates a full-format 16:9 picture that depicts the image data of a 4:3 broadcast.
