That's good news - business that doesn't make a profit isn't any good for anyone (might be good for the individual customer short-term, but that's it) - but good to hear that they will match (if it makes business sense).

Its only my opinion though. they might not do that. One good thing I saw was the offers that will be coming that will be availbe to all customers not jsut the ones that threaten to leave. i don't think that anyone would be needing to ring retentions to try and get a better deal from what I've seen. which is why i think they will restrict what we can offer, which leaves us to do our job and deal with the customers problems as to why there wanting to leave in the first place and not just people that want to haggle.

I don't think that people will need to have offers matched, what seems to be on the way seems really good value and I was impressed and thier just the normal offers not just retention offers

Re: What will happen to the people with discounts after the change to virgin

yeah its a tenner too dead Zing but say compare it to say BE you get up2 and say you are just a bit too far from the exchange....at least with NTL if you are in the right area then you are on a constant 10 meg

What have u seen? Plz tell us if u dont mind

If u are not allowed to post it, then PM me if thats ok... Its just that next month I am out of my 12 month contract, and am thinking to leave ntl for sky for 2 main reasons:
1. too expensive compared to competition.
2. internet speeds are utter rubbish at night.

recd the virgin letter today saying that ppl will get speeds they pay for, and not "upto"... so that mite be a sign of things to come! So if the price is right, ntl can keep my custom

Why are they "Retention" offers? If they seriously believe the pricing is not competive then change it for all not just as a retention. That way they would reduce the number of calls coming in to the call centre.

I guess 10Mb is going to drop in price at the end of March any how so it will resolve that for you. With 4Mb being upgraded to 10Mb for free your effectivley dropped the price of the 10Mb service, assuming you downgrade to get the price cut

Re: What will happen to the people with discounts after the change to virgin

I personally find £35 a reasonable amount to pay for an always on 10mb connection. I suppose it comes down to where you live, and if you can actually get the full speed though.

I''d much rather see the price of the top tier TV package come down, as I rarely watch it. (can't downgrade it, as the channels I DO watch are only available on the top package )

I'd like to see the TV work like a Pizza menu so you can choose the channels you actually watch and nothing esle. Let all the dross channels die!!

Re: What will happen to the people with discounts after the change to virgin

well i for cant wait to see the NEW offers that will be available to ALL customers that MATTYSHEFF refers to, if they are competetive that will only be a good thing , no point VIRGIN advertising agresively with uncompetetive prices.

MATTYSHEFF do you know when new offers are likely to be announced/available?

Re: What will happen to the people with discounts after the change to virgin

What i dont agree with is people paying less than what i do, and getting more for it.

Also if they can give these "discounts" to some people why not give then to all?

AND

NTL seems to be offering all kinds of promotions to new customers, why not offer these to people who have been using ntl for years....

I originally got cable tv in 1992 with Nynex, then it moved to Cable and Wireless, then NTL, and now Virgin Media, there should be some offers for the long time users!
