Switch is rebranding as Maestro so simply enter your details as you would for Swicth?

Switch and Maestro are indeed one and the same ... however all that means is, Virgin don't take Switch either. They will only accept card payments with Visa, Visa Delta, or Mastercard. So you can only use a debit card at all if it's in the Visa network. It's even more perplexing because Maestro is the Debit Card brand of Mastercard, same as Delta is the debit card brand associated with Visa. It just seems like a strange and arbitrary choice on NTL:Telewest/Virgin's part. Why would they choose to exclude so many potential customers, given that even those who sign up as a new customer with Direct Debit need to make their first payment by card?

Re: Virgin on the ridiculous

What is even more perplexing is that switch card/maestro payments are a set rate whereas visa/mastercard is % based.

£50 on a visa costs them £1.00 (2.0%) at least on a switch maestro it would be under 20p (probably under 10p given the volume they would use)

Scrap that ... no need to answer, they appear only to do LLU business, and it's going to be a long, cold day in hell before our local exchange gets that.

Nice ... but they still don't service my exchange. I checked.

At the moment I fancy Zen, I hear good things about them. I have a couple of days to decide while I wait for my MAC to appear anyway.

Re: Virgin on the ridiculous

I had terrible troubles with Virgin's customer support about a year ago,so ended up switching to Orange (Who are now the best ISP I've ever had, with brilliant support) It's ridiculous how they answered your emails, even once you tried drumming it in their heads

I seem to have jynxed myself-I've been in contact with them the past 3 days asking why their nameservers keep going back and forward, and they keep replying with a copy and paste saying how they do not give personal website support, even though that is not what I am asking for

Alison is a real person, she has been there a good number of years, was there when i used to work for them

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm there, Mr Be? As a matter of fact there is, I have my MAC and intend to use it, after this weekend (I have a lot of eBay listings ending on Saturday and I don't want to risk losing connectivity).

What a pity she doesn't answer personally when I reply to her emails! It would have saved them a customer.
