Re: Carphone Warehouse Buys AOL in the UK
Oh dear. I currently use AOL BB. It is after all one of the few ADSL suppliers that actually does allow unlimited access. It's actually been pretty solid as well, don't think particularly highly of the AOL software though which is why I don't use it or have it installed.
I am concerned about caps though, so it's possible that NTL may have a returning customer, for BB anyway. I'll have to see how much that would cost.

I must admit that the connection has been rock solid with AOL, no disconnections.
Does anyone else live in the Flitwick area of Bedfordshire and if so could they say whether BB with NTL has been reliable. I had reliability problems with NTL before, one of the reasons I left in the first place but if they have been sorted out then I may well book for an installation.

Does this mean that AOL could set up call centres within the UK?

I would hazard a guess then, there will be relatively no problems, as it's aimed at the business side of things. It's the residential customers who get treated like crap, heavily traffic shaped, to make sure the boys in suits are happy. Money talks.

I can only speak with experience of 123-reg for registration and email forwarding. The process is good, but whe you run into a problem don't expect any help.
Recently emails were taking hours and hours days to be forwarded. there was no status message on 123-reg and they took over one week to reply to my message asking about the problem. The reply simply said 'we're having problems, don't know when they'll be fixed'.
To be honest, they're all as bad as each other. Apalling customer service is the norm these days.
Someone I know just transferred into 1&1, tried to adjust the nameserver info, the system wouldn't let him. Two days after sending an email asking for help they wrote back saying that they shouldn't do it for him, he's supposed to do it all through the webiste...but on this ocassion they'd do it. That was three days ago - they've still not done it, so the site's been down for almost a week now.
Sorry for going off topic!

Re: Carphone Warehouse Buys AOL in the UK
you know I read it and thought thats a very cheap price, (consider that BE went for almost same price and had barely a 20th of the customer base) and I see AOL will continue to get a % of the revenues.

Re: Carphone Warehouse Buys AOL in the UK
oh no.....
N i loved AOL for its unlimited usage and uninterrupted connection.
CPW beta not mess up.
For those who complain abt AOL 8.0, u can always work around that even if u only use a simple bb modem.
Which brings me back to another of my post...someone already mentioned demon provided UNLIMITED download. does any1 else provide that???

Re: Carphone Warehouse Buys AOL in the UK
There are no 100% Unlimited ISPs anywhere, it simply isn't possible, they will all be subject, as with NTL to a fair use policy, yes it is advertised as unlimited and can be taken as such.
