Re: forgotten password on xp

Best not to allow them access to an admin account at all to be honest. Too much damage can be done if you allow minors access to the administration accounts.

When it's installed again and accounts are setup you can always
go to start menu,
select run and type
control userpasswords2
press enter
use the dialogue box to click on the user account, select properties and then change the account to a power user in the group membership tab. Will restrict them a bit but might save you reloading windows on a regular basis.

Re: forgotten password on xp

Oooh, if only you'd had a winboot cd or bart pe disk. You could've poped that in, booted of it and used the utility that resets all xp password. Has saved many customers at work from having to do anything like a reinstall and takes all of 5 minutes. http://www.ubcd4win.com/ everyone should make a copy.
