Re: 11 years for rape
the saddest thing about this story is effectively two lives have been destroyed because of someone's sick mind. the girl who was raped and her child.

It's a pity that there are no large inhabitable islands left, then we could ship them all off like we did to Australia.
Then drop a bomb on it.

My feelings on this "chop his bits off then leave him in a room with other women that have been raped."

Re: 11 years for rape
While this is a sick and disturbing crime, with a sentence which seems grossly unfair to what he has done, we have to remember that.
1) The girl likely just wants to get this through and in the past, the child hopefully she will perhaps grow and love, that we do not know.
What we likely do know is she will NOT be in any mood to testify or push for any further sentence and the more people harp on at it the more her pain will grow.
I hope her family and relatives and friends help her and each other through this, and the press and everyone respects they have a rocky future ahead of them.
I shall burn a candle tonight for a young life bringing another young life into this world, and a hope candle for there future to come.

sorry graham but we are entitled to post our opinions.
the reason i have not entered into a debate with regards to this subject because i personally feel it is too emotive. i will end up posting something emotive and then will be told that it is emotive.
my first instinct of course is that this guy should be castrated....
and as i said in my previous post, it is the girl and the child whom i feel most sorry for.
what is there to really debate about this subject? what should happen to the guy?
you make comments and then post things such as this:

which is not a reasoned response.

With respect Graham, I have understood your tack on cases like these, is to play Devils Advocate with the accused and try and put both points of view.
In this particular case that position doesn't hold up.
Quote:
A man who raped a 12-year-old girl and made her pregnant has been jailed for 11 years.
Ibrar Hussain, 27, from Keighley, West Yorks, pleaded guilty at Leeds Crown Court to raping the child in 2003 after DNA evidence linked him to the attack.
The girl did not mention the assault until she was taken to hospital with stomach pains and doctors discovered she was nearly seven months pregnant.
Mr Justice Andrew Smith said it was an "appallingly nasty" offence.
The court heard Hussain had planned his attack on the girl before he pulled her into his house and raped her.
|
The FACTS of this are:
- He planned this
- He has admitted it
- He got her pregnant
Justice has been dealt on the basis of our woefully inadequate judicial system.
The man will go to Jail for 11 years.
Now on the basis that we can't argue with the facts, then I'm assuming your previous comments are in reaction to the comments made outside of that scope.
- He will never do the 11 years
- He will be harmed whilst inside
- He should be chemically castrated
- etc
- etc
Now ... this is where peoples opinions will really come out. This was a terrible crime, particularly as the victim was only 12. But please remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no matter how "way off base" you may believe it to be.
Of course i will not condone any violence toward the individual, I can at the same time understand the feeling being voiced by others here.
We are not a vigilante squad, and if we feel that justice has NOT been done, then letters to the MP's etc are the way to go. Harming the accused would not solve the overall problems with the system.
However, on the basis that many of us, including yourself, believe that the current system does not accurately serve a decent punishment for the associated crime, surely we are allow to speculate as to what we would like see done.
Remember tolerance with each other, be respectful of other peoples views.

Re: 11 years for rape
People like him aren't treatable. He will be out within 11 years and will remain a danger to children till the day he dies. So the question is--what do we do with him?

We obey the law set by within the UK we obide by, once we see that this method we are using now is not working and there is sufficent uproar, I hope/think the prision sentences for prolific offenders will be much longer.

While I want to see this man punished my first thought is about keeping him from harming any more children.......how do we accomplish this?

the problem is jail may give him ways into other crimes, so he comes out in 11years (or less if he behaves himself) and then he could be into any number of other criminal activities.
the guy obviously has something wrong, as he felt the need to rape a young girl. god only knows what else he is capable of

He will probably be ostracised and abused while in jail (thats a shame) so he probably won't learn anything more than self preservation tactics...............unless he hooks up with other paedophiles--then he will become a better paedophile (this does happen)

They can repent all they want but they willl continue to get the urges. I could repent about my lust for attractive women till the cows come home.........it still won't make me fancy them any less.........
