Well, I'll blame him for it anyway

Well, I dampened a cd wipe and that seems to have worked

Slightly damp good quality paper towel (the new ones for glass are brilliant)

I agree also with the slightly damp, lint free cloth, but it helps to use de-ionised water (stuff for topping up car batteries from your local Halfords, etc) - if you use hard water it may leave a deposit.
