Re: teacher jailed !!!!!!

I don't blame her for having the pistol. After going through all of that I would have flipped

Yeah, that's probably why she didn't claim self-defense then.

I still think given the pre, and post circumstances she should have been given a suspended sentence.

Ain't no such 'new interpretation' .... I'm sure we debated this about a month ago; can't remember which thread though.

I'm sure you were part of it; probably concentrating on packing your bags ...

And she wasn't being threatened by anyone so far as I can tell. No-one was on her property or trying to get onto her property. She had no reason to be frightened of anyone. It was she who got the gun, left her own property, went up to a group of people in the street and shot at them, not the other way round.

I don't think she's got any reason to complain about the conviction itself, though as I said earlier unless there's something else we're not being told about.

I am not too fond of being blackmailed, but I really don't think she should have been jailed in the first place.

Re: teacher jailed !!!!!!

Apparently one of them who she shot the gun at, went to court and told them not to put her in jail.

The problem is (and AFAIK part of the reason she got done) that there was NO PROOF that these were the same guys the vandalised her garden and made prank phone calls.

I am not defending the guys, as they may (I say "may" as the report does not specify what they were doing, so we don't know) have been up to no good anyway, but our legal system does require proof of events (and rightly so in my opinion). Otherwise we could all just cry "I've been attacked", blame someone we didn't like and get them jailed wether they had done anything or not.

Nobody made her use a gun, as far as I'm concerned she got exactly what she deserved, take a look at what finally provoked her to shoot at some kids:

Quote:
The final provocation came when Walker, who was head of Year 11, in charge of food technology and career's co-ordinator at a school in Eccles at the time, saw a washing up liquid container full of water had been emptied over her son's car.
Someone put WATER on her sons car! Pathetic, she's supposed to be a teacher for kids with behavioural problems, hopefully she'll never get a job working with children again and as for a hunger strike .. pffft .. let her starve, it's her own choice.

It wasn't that which drove her to fire an airgun at them, it was years of pent up rage at vandalism, violence and bullying to her children, which caused her explode, uncontrolably. I am not excusing her, but under so much provocation, you can't expect people not to lash out.

Sorry, but I CAN expect her to not shoot at people regardless of what happened, she got what she deserved and should take her oil.
