Re: Trespasser wins payout of £567,00 0

This isn't new... I have heard of other cases before.

Now I have heard another one, it makes me wonder how many times this sort of thing happens

Why, oh why, can't people in power, just once maybe, have some common sense.

I wonder why this guy doesn't sue the homeowner for stress after being woken up so suddenly.

Mr Murphy, of Seaforth, Merseyside, suffered brain damage in the accident which was said by doctors to have caused such severe behavioural problems that he was expelled from two schools in the two years after his recovery.

I think I will stop playing the National Lottery and just go trespass on someone roof, hope to fall through and hey presto I am on to a winner!
What can you say apart from
What a w*nker
Maybe the company should have counter sued for damage done to the fence, the floor and the roof. Little scrote deserves nothing but a slap and a trip to see mum and dad

I'm not going to get into this one (music to many ears I'm sure ) but would just like to remind that the kid was only nine when this happened and was looking for a football when he entered the premises (and this is probably why the judgement went against the company). No further comment on the rights or wrongs of that judgement from me though. Honest!

Nah, that'll never happen. They'd have to start thinking.

On a serious note. I hate this "Compensation Culture" we seem to be living in. We seem to be increasingly following "Oh, it's gone wrong, let's sue" model the Americans follow. I personally think we should be following an "Oh, it's gone wrong, let's fix it" model.

Having that, I would be more inclined to agree with the payout if the bloke had been on the factory roof for legitimate reasons (say, he was fixing it). This guy does not deserve compensation.

Then no doubt there will be no comments that the child was tresspassing at the time of the accident and if he and his mates hadn't have been breaking the law at the time then the accident wouldn't have happened ...... Looking around a building for your ball is one thing, climbing up onto the roof with a group of your mates is another. It's like suing the manufacturer of a match after you burn yourself commiting arson.

That's a novel way of saying he fell through the roof when he shouldn't have been up there in the first place

The fact that he was only nine when this happened is really quite irrelevant IMO.
