What, after 20 minutes of operation? I'd say that confirms the theory that he's been given a duff second-hand box.

Levels seem OK (have checked with the internal diags of the modem) and ran a diags test here in work.

Re: Burned smart card
Yes, but mine is getting on for four years of age. Yours got like that (allegedly) in 20 minutes, although TBH I think you have been given an old box, if it was hot enough to burn plastic in 20 minutes you'd be able to smell it.

Re: Burned smart card
No smell. Can the smart card be a 2nd hand one also?

Not alleged by you, alleged, indirectly, by NTL, who presumably don't claim to give old boxes to new subs. If it's a 'new' box, then the card got burned in just 20 minutes. Allegedly. But what I think is, it is not a new box, and it has been running for somewhat longer before dying off and being given to you in error.
EDIT
This is all a little too closely related to your existing thread - merging it now.

I wonder if they will replace it with a Samsung. Are they better than the Pace's?
|
Not in your area, unfortunately. 4001 or a 4010 are your basic options.

I meant the burning of the smart card, not the 20 minutes it took. Which obviously indicates it is a second hand box.
