Thats my understanding.

When you see it working on Sky and see its stable and much much faster it makes you cringe when you try to use it on NTL.

Seeing as CableForumUser seems to be new to all this, it's prolly worth explaining that a 'return path' is what allows your Set Top Box to send information back up the cable - a very handy feature and essential for true interactive services.

Tried this Sunday in the Nottingham area. No red dot on BBC 1 or 2 but on 2 I did get into the interactive services. Lots on UN500 errors initially. Rebooted the STB and now more stable, albeit slow. Can get to all of the Interactive stuff except the schedule option - but that seems to be broke further up the chain, e.g. the BBC.

BBC.co.uk....apparently have some things........did i hear someone say that skys interactive service is faster and more stable than ntl: ? ...... dream on....have you tried using sky's interactive....you have to wait ages on the thing to load up, and then wait ages for each other thing to load. i like ntl:'s olympics / wimbledon / euro soooo much better. the only thing i like that is on sky is BBc news and Sky news interactive.

AFAK ntl had some problems with the service - and they are not compleatly fixed yet.

Erm, yes! I used to have NTL and the interactive was horrendous - it tended to hang the box...that is when it was available. Sky might take a few seconds to load but using it for the Olympics on BBC is a pleasure.

A few seconds to load on Sky? NTL takes a few minutes for interactive to load and thats if it doesnt hang your box in the process

The mail round work today says that message comes on if the box hasn't had the download

Being as the UN500 caused the box to stop responding, thought the TV continued under the big blue error, the restart seems to have fixed it.

No problems here apart from the obligatory reboots.
Olympics Interactive .... excellent .....

BUT .... why can't the events on the multiscreen be named (as I think they are on SKY) rather than just numbered???

Because the screens are quite small, it's sometimes difficult to see which sports are being covered.
