Mostly right

But can I just point out an important point

If you use an STB for BB, the MAC address of the connected *device* (e.g. PC, router, etc) has to be registered with NTL.

So, if you change to using a router, you can go about this in two ways:

1) Clone the MAC address of the previously connected *device* (e.g. PC's network card) onto the router (*not* the MAC of the STB). This way, the STB will think it is still connected to the PC, when in fact it is connected to the router.

or

2) Register the MAC of the new device with NTL.

Last night when I trying to set this up I had to register with NTL because it did'nt reconize the computer, this must of been the router? So it thinks the router is the main PC. Thats my theory. Its good to know help is at hand when u need it. cheers lads.
Well done Sometimes it just helps to start a fresh and clear all settings out of the router and work through it all again. Glad its all up and running now.

Re: Belkin router?

I had the exact same router, and it was flaky as hell. Counterstrike server browser crashed it everytime with latest, and beta firmwares from belkin.

They eventually sent me a wireless model which is working great.
