Re: Google to launch webmail service with 1GIG storage limit!!

i was quite suprised by google's decision to enter the email storage market with such enthusiasm as to offer a 1GB inbox

yes i did think it was an april fool, but having read in to additional information, it seems to be very 'profitable' for google, if it really is going to cost them 2$ per GB using advertising to generate revenues, i dont see any reason for the service not to be a success......

i wonder if they will have an attachment upload system for storing large files..................

Re: Google to launch webmail service with 1GIG storage limit!!

We've been talking about this on Orkut and despite the privacy concerns, a lot of people are up for it.
I'm not, simply because I've got more than enough email accounts!

yes i have been reading various commentrys the privacy concerns, as it scans phrases of 'incoming' mail to the inbox and attaches advertisements to the email, it does not read the contents simply attaches the appropriate advertisments to a particular word/email.

Re: Google to launch webmail service with 1GIG storage limit!!

Yeah, I've read a lot about privacy concerns, because of the unique ID you're set in Google's cookie and how it can then be tied to your email address, yada yada yada. It's a fair point, but as dellwear says, email ain't exactly a secure medium. I've been reading my boss's emails for years

Or an SMS! The most insecure part of the GSM protocols! All the voice transmissions are encrypted, but SMS is sent as clear text!

Re: Google to launch webmail service with 1GIG storage limit!!

Interesting concept this targeting of advertising linked to the mail content. I assume there will be good spam trapping, or all the advertising will be for penis enlargement, viagra, girls who want you to...
