It should be the kick up the arse that they need.

Sometimes you need to pat people on the back and say "there, there, never mind eh?" And sometimes you need to say "Buck your ideas up sunshine".

I think the blame ultimately lies up Capello's door, but even with a lousy manager the team should be able to carry themselves through to a point.

I think this shows what Capello thought about the match.

I used to be in EnglandFans and followed them round on their various qualifying campaings, but I gave up after that fateful night when McLaren watched from the comfort of his umbrella as we failed to qualify for Euro 2008. I have booed at a couple England games and I wouldn't have a go at anyone else after a display like that tonight. You forget that many of the fans there have had to go to some really crappy places and spend a lot of money doing it to get enough caps to get World Cup Final tickets. When they get these tickets, they then spend even more money travelling in the hope of seeing England put on a performance and at least go down fighting. It's not easy following England and it costs in time, money and effort on the parts of those fans. Tonight there was hardly any fight until the last 10 minutes and that wasn't much of a fight either. Tonight, I thanked God that I hadn't carried on and spent good money to watch that match. That is possibly the worst performance I've seen from England in a very long time.

Algeria beat West Germany in the World Cup in 1982.

The Germans went on and got through to the final.

No. It doesn't make me feel any better either

We won't be going anywhere if we keep playing like that and I hate to say it, but Rooney should have been taken off tonight. Every time he touched the ball it pinged off him like he'd never played before.

I agree with what you say but it doesnt have any positive effect on the team its only negative but I dont mind admitting I havent paid to follow them round so I probably dont understand. Apart from expressing your disappointment all it does is demoralise the team, a team which already doesnt seem very positive

I thought that also.
He showed the most aggression when walking off.

Nobody in an England shirt stood out at all tonight or even in the last game. Capello has to change the tactics and play the players where they are best at playing. Plus, Joe Cole is a must for the next game.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa

1) Rooney has had a long season
2) He is not playing in his usual role
3) He is our best player but that's not saying much. The papers and commentators that put him up there with Messi and such were setting him up for a fall

It seems every manager we have does quite well with everyone else but when it comes to England they turn crap. I think we need to look at the quality of our team and the realism of our expectations, we obviously should have done better in our group so far but he qualified in style. Don't want to fire him and get another manager in yet again.

I think the trouble is that the FA are desperate for 'a name' and keeps raiding the domestic leagues around the world for it rather than an experienced manager at international level. To abuse a cliche, it's a whole different ballgame.

I don't think we qualified in style at all. The results on paper flattered us. The performances weren't that good at all. We scored against the run of play in a few of them or played weak opposition. The only match that stands out is the Croatia match and that was a while ago now.

The rot has been there a while. We've given Capello time and space and we're just going backwards.

Well the best England have done in recent years has been under Eriksson who is still treated as a joke. I think the FA are under pressure to deliver a manager who can bring this team further than the quality suggests. We are a team that should be in the last 8. Which we did mostly achieve before.

England going out doesn't mean the end of the World Cup for some of us and everything seems quite normal to me, a few more people partying when the England matches are on but certainly nothing negative.

It would be nice to watch another international game without the build-up, half-time analysis, and full time analysis containing hype for the next England game
