Re: Areas already upgraded (2012 double speed upgrades)
You don't understand why they prioritise areas with the most need? Seriously?

Re: Areas already upgraded (2012 double speed upgrades)
I still cannot get the 10mb upload even though I get the following messages.
"Your area is ready
Congratulations! The new double speed boosts are already up and running in your area."
EDIT: Now I am getting the following message in my account
"Exciting news - we're giving you a free broadband boost to up to 120Mb, the UK's fastest ever widely available broadband!
Some people may need a new modem to make the most of up to 120Mb broadband. If that includes you, we'll send you a free Virgin Media Super Hub that can handle speeds of up to 120Mb and more."

Poor show on VM... this is a proper PR disaster... people have been misled over the upgrades.

Thats not how it works.
The channels are for load balancing on the local network, but they still need to increase capacity at the other end. Its like adding extra lanes to a busy motorway at one end but not the other.

There are rarely any capacity problems at "at the other end".

I dont understand how they can roll it out in an area which is much more congested and has less channels than one which is less congested and has more channels.
Phoned up and got an early upgrade and price reduction anyway.

Has anyone still in contract managed to get an early upgrade?

Tell me about it....same here
in a very busy area of London, many VM users only 5 channels(but is not only the speed is the congestion all the time),area upgrade finish by the checker ... (seems they care only to beat BT infinity only for speed and congestion never mind
Had ok congestion for 2-3 weeks and now is up again and i think will stay this way cos i am monitor an other 3 mates from work and they suffer too (all with 5 channels too in busy area)...
One may jump to sky(looking deals),and the second thinking leaving too
If i had fttc i will not join VM
got upset and downgrade the VIP collection service, saving me £50

Re: Areas already upgraded (2012 double speed upgrades)
My area was meant to have been upgraded this month but the double speed site now lists September to November 2012 as the date.

Re: Areas already upgraded (2012 double speed upgrades)
Mine was supposed to be "from July", now it's "December 12 - March '13".
But, since it's free, I refuse to be bothered about it.....

Re: Areas already upgraded (2012 double speed upgrades)
"We estimate your area will be ready between: December 2012 and May 2013", this is a bit of a blow as it was origionaly July 2012.
Anyone know what BT broad band is like ?

Nothing from VM is ever free.
You are paying the same price as new customers so that is what the service is now worth. The difference is that, unlike new customers, you only get half the download speed of the service you are paying for.
