It then chooses the HD version instead of SD
I see. But when you set a whishlist up for an actor, say, you don't know what channel the show will be on for future shows. If you select HD as a category, what happens if the show turns up on an SD channel only? I guess it won't record it?

Could be right there,But i have just wishlisted the shows so far that i know are in HD and so far they are working and recording HD
Might be worth setting something that will only be available in the future in sd and see what it does

It's handy that you can view a list of planned recordings just of your wishlist searches. One way is to check this every so often and cancel any SD shows that have an HD version, and add the HD version.

It would be nice to have Tivo do this automatically and I hope in the future it can.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

The Wishlist I created for Sci-Fi movies seems to be picking HD content when possible anyway, from channels like Syfy HD, Film 4 HD, E4 HD etc.

I certainly didn't insist on it recording HD only, and given the search and the sheer range of channels to search from, that was probably the right decision - not that I think I could do Sci-Fi movies + HD for the category anyway?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Just goggled up a useful tip regarding giving priority to HD versions of programmes in Wishlists: You can create duplicate Wishlists based on a programme title, give one Wishlist a category of HD, and the other Wishlist no category.

Then give the HD Wishlist priority over the other, HD-less one. When TiVo finds a HD version of the programme, it will record it, and the SD version will be ignored due to the lower priority and the fact that the episode is a duplicate of the HD version.

If there is no HD version, then the HD-less Wishlist will record the SD version.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Wanted to watch the snooker on the red button but all TiVo does is bring up the iPlayer.

Is there no BBC red button functionality then? Anyone know when it'll be available?
