I can see it now ... 2011 and a couple million subscribers sign up for full tivo @ £3 a month ... 2013 .. the bombshell VM announce an increase to £5 a month ... 2015 another bombshell an increase to £7 a month ...

dont wish to speculate and scaremonger at all ... but with the old tivo s1 charging £10 a month ten years ago (i believe thats what i read) i can see VM milking a cash cow in the future with price hikes for those just wishing to be able to record the tv
They won't do it if it risks pushing people to Sky. Mr Murdoch has his uses!

Re: TiVo

I think I may regret the raffle. If I lose I will take twice as long having to register again for another one lol.

I don't think it changes your place in the queue, just if you get it "free"

The £10 monthly fee had nothing to do with why TiVo didn't take off in the UK. Sky was meant to work with TiVo but screwed them over when it launch Sky+

And why would they love this charge?
If VM could get deals with LOVE FILM, BLOCKBUSTER or even EPIX HD they could offer these instead of SKY Movies as subscriptions and depending on the CC ruling who knows what could be on the cards.

Re: TiVo

If VM via Tivo Internet/apps can gain access to all film content generally available and in HD, then there would be no point subscribing to Sky Movies unless you absolutelly want to be ther first to see a film in a few cases, an interesting thought!

If you recorded it(not live) no pin is req.
I think the pin protection is to stop kids watching on air stuff
by accident when no adult is around.
If you have recorded it,it is up to you to make sure the kids
don't see it,not the broadcasters, just like a dvd in the house.

Problem is mate Lovefilm streaming doesn't do HD.
