In the broader sense: some ordinary people break some of the rules some of the time but all people don't break all of the rules all of the time. Cyclists are just ordinary people.

But the question here is specific, not generic. The specific behaviour of a cadre of cyclists is what is under criticism here.

Ah, I see your point. Specifically, I have heard that 4 years ago someone had a spat with a person who had a bike. A cadre of wronged pedestrians is stewing. Well, specifically, one at least. Good heavens.

Not sure there's any correlation between the two signs? There is so much we don't know about the deaths.

Re: [Update] Cyclist convicted of "wanton and furious driving"
I’ve never seen any stats supporting the proposition that it’s safer not wearing a bike helmet.
Always willing to be educated, though.

Re: [Update] Cyclist convicted of "wanton and furious driving"
Not sure if you're referencing my comment about the use or non use of bike helmets; if you are it is not only a safety issue. In Australia and New Zealand, where there are compulsory helmet laws, there has been a 30 to 50% drop in the number of people cycling. This statistic is courtesy of Olympic Gold Medallist, Chris Boardman.
I suppose it might be 'safer' if we all (vehicle drivers, buggy owners, pedestrians, skateboarders, roller skaters, drinkers etc) wore helmets but that's just silly.

Looks like a plan to me.

Obesity and pollution looks a better plan eh? At least you’ve let the cat out of the bag: you don’t want ‘safer’ cycling, you want less cycling to suit your selfish preference.

That would be pretty difficult given my ongoing multiple comorbidities and disabilities but in a ideal world if l was capable of riding a bike a helmet would be the second thing l would buy after a bike as its better to be safe rather then sorry.

I don't normally agree with Kursk but he seems one of the few here with a sense of perspective. All transport types have their fair share of idiots. Cyclists are no worse than car drivers ..

l am not disagreeing with that view but a driver/passengers in a road vehicle have a reasonable protection for them where cyclists without helmets don't.
