Ronaldo agrees 6 year deal:

Which is a joke as no deals are ultimately binding...

Re: Football Close Season Thread
Contracts can be settled with money, as Jenson Button's proved in F1 by buying out his Williams seat from 2003-2005. And apparantly Real Madrid have bags of it to spare. I'd be interested to see what success if any they can manage in the next 2 or 3 years, considering they've basically been off the radar in major competitions. I don't think they'll match Chelsea's success with Abramovich's money spree - 2nd, 1st, 1st in 3 years of Premier League football, FA Cups, League Cups, Champions League quarters, semis, and finals.

Re: Football Close Season Thread
All I care about now is can we get anyone decent without getting taken for a ride? It's going to be a tough ask I think. Be glad if we get one player of note for a "Not" over inflated fee.
I mean it's all paper talk, but when you are seeing Ribéry for £45Million! Gimme a break, most overated player in Europe that bloke. Benzema, £35Million, bags of potential and has yet to show it.
Got my fingers crossed, based on knowing Ronaldo was going, 12months ago, and that Tevez was likely to end in tears, that we already had things moving on at least two players.
And for the love of God, will someone go get Owen, give him a fitness test and then offer him a one year "Pay as you play" the guy is in his prime and is going to end up at Hull.

Re: Football Close Season Thread
Steve Bruce wants to make Tottenham striker Darren Bent, 25, his first signing at Sunderland, but is being put off by the £18m price tag that Spurs have put on him.
£18million!?!?!? Seriously? He's not worth half of that imo.

Re: Football Close Season Thread
21.45 Speculation is implying that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will use part of the mammoth fee received for Real Madrid-bound Cristiano Ronaldo to prise Jack Rodwell away from Everton.
He does look a decent prospect but i bet Everton won't let him go on the cheap.

Re: Football Close Season Thread
That 80 million is being paid up front, no stage payments what so ever, cracking bit of business imo

Re: Football Close Season Thread
USA 2 - 3 Brazil in the end
1130 BST: Manchester City have made a "stratospheric" offer to Samuel Eto'o according to Barcelona president Joan Laporta. (Catalan radio station iCat FM)
Tevez, Robinho and Eto'o could be the best strike force in the division, lot of ego's for the manager to contend with, don't know if he is up to the job tbh

The alternative could be to take time wasting to the limit, a substitution after half hour then two in the second half!
Would look like five-a-side football !
Just out of interest, what the odds for city to finish above united if a tenner was waged now ?

Re: Football Close Season Thread
I'd be careful about taking that bet. Sparky is unproven at controlling egos (Robinho had a strop last season) - and can all these players work together?

Very true Russ, it was said with tongue in cheek to a big degree
Bet ( lol ) there will be someone who will wager on it.
£10 deposited now in a savings account would not get you much interest, but if pigs do fly and it was waged on the unthinkable ?
Bet fred are offering 6/1.
