Why would VM go along with something that encourages customers to leave, even in the short term? Would a collusive agreement like that (to actively mislead customers) be legal under competition and/or consumer law?
And how would customers react if, having been told by BT the channels won't be on Virgin, they switch to BT on Wednesday only to find them popping up on VM on Thursday? I know all the telcos have been told off by the ASA at one time or another, but that is surely pushing the limits...
I suspect each side is holding out till the last minute for the 'best' commercial deal; at the end of the day VM 'need' BT Sports to keep customers happy, and BT 'need' the income to offset some of the costs of the rights they have purchased. Otherwise, it is a very, very, very expensive way for BT to promote their broadband service.

Very good points

I think we have established you want the channel. You do however seem to fail to understand that they will not be held to ransom for the best price.
They refused to pay over the odds for the Sky Basics, and so the channels disappeared.
The world did not stop revolving because of it. True they probably lost some customers, and my missus lost her beloved 24, but ..... I believe Sky needed Virgin more than Virgin needed Sky, and I honestly believe it will be the same with BT.
None of us know what the delay is, or what the reasons are, but I am sure Virgin will deliver the goods eventually, but at a price they can afford.

It was only a bonus and we do not know yet there is nothing to replace it.
There will NOT be a price decrease it simply won't happen.

This isn't some **** pot company we're talking about, this is Virgin with a turnover of billions and billions a deal with BT Sport can be done if they want to. depends how greedy they are at the end of the day. they will be under orders to try and get the best deal i understand that. it's their job. but come launch I would expect they just swallow their pride and get the deal done by hook or by crook. otherwise they are clearly crap and deserve to lose their customers.

Exactly but people expect something to replace the channels they are losing and if nowt arrives then their phones are going to be much busier then usual from Thursday onwards....

none of those things are as important as a channel that carries 38 live premier league games. that is what we have on this forum, a conflict of ideals between people who understand the importance of that and people who see live premier league games the same as an episode of 24.

Fair point.
It's not Virgin, It's Virgin Media. All the different "Virgins" are different companies.
If VM where to buy BT Sport at a silly price and bundle it with XL they could be out of business within the year. If they buy it at a silly price and then charge the customer that price people would rightly point at the Sky deal and complain.
They just can't spend silly money on it, no mater what.

Yeah... lets have a '24' channel instead. All those millions that they pay to footballers could be spent on new episodes of 24. Far better than watching some air filled leather ball kicked around....

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.
I think VM are at the wind-up, and have been constantly monitoring this thread like a secret service MI5 agent, laughing at all the desperation shown by some posters, there's been so much speculation about BT Sport and, quite frankly, their quite pishy 38 games, don't get me wrong i'd love to see it on Virgin, but i'm really not that bothered because their line up of games is pretty crap imo..... I would of course love to see Atlantic on Virgin, but again this seems unlikely according to some of the posts on here...

The importance of the Premier League games on BT is an opinion which seemingly varies from person to person.

I'm sure whatever BT are proposing is fair though. if it's not, which i reckon is unlikely, then stick it at £15 a month and let us have the chance to pay. who cares about the sky deal? that little deal which ended days ago you mean, or a new one? i'm sure Virgin customers who like sport would prefer the chance to pay rather than not have any chance at all.
even if Sky has a better deal. who is going to say "ok well i can't watch my team play tonight, but Sky customers have a better deal than i WOULD have had here on Virgin, so ultimately i'm not bothered"
what the f kind of logic is that?
if you want to watch the footy you will pay. that's how it works. non-sport fans won't understand.
