Re: [Merged] Football talk
after last nights results i think the title is chelsea's.. i can't see them dropping 11 points.. might loose when they play Arsenal and go to OT but still won't be enough.. damm those draws with Brum, Middlesbrough, Fulham and loosing to Pompey

You have to hope. If Man Utd and Arsenal both beat Chelsea then the gaps 5 points. Then we just have to hope that Chealsea can draw a few games. Of course we have to keep putting the pressure onto Chelsea, can't afford any more slipups between now and the rest of the season.

Re: [Merged] Football talk
good news from UEFA.. from the 06 \ 07 season all UEFA comps, not national leagues, will have to field 4 "homegrown players" although this only means a player that has been at the club for 3 years, whatever his nationality it is a step in the right direction..
see
http://www.teamtalk.com/teamtalk/New...287195,00.html
and
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...pe/4233353.stm
if that was in place this season then arsenal, chelsea, celtic and ajax wouldn't be eligable with their current squads..
this is good as a national league side should predominantly have players born in that country it is part of the identity of a club and was one of the worst things to come out of the Bosman club..
a club should represent the community it is from not just be made of a collection of players who have been bought like the Chelsea side,, even the Man U side has been mainly bought nowour last crop of youth players are getting old..

I don't think that rule will make clubs represent the community any more than they do currently.

Re: [Merged] Football talk
no fraid it won't.. for instance Ruud or Hasselbaink would quality as players developed by the Premier League as they have played here for more than 3 years.
Also by the time it comes into force most of the Spanish people at Liverpool and Portuguese at Chelsea will be classed as home grown..
it's a compromise but a step in the right direction.. if only the EU would understand that football is meant to represent the community it is from then UEFA could go further with these rules..

Goes with the turf, I suppose...
Megson has replaced Dawson with former Munich, Blackburn and Leicester defender John Curtis- free transfer from Portsmouth...

They wouldn't as you have to be between 16 and 21 when you spend your 3 season in a country.

That system is so ambiguous and silly. Owen Hargreaves?

no there are two different types two places for players developed by the club which is players who have been at the same club from the ages of 15-21 for more than three seasons.. e.g cole at arsenal.. gerrard at liverpool.. even scholes and the nevilles come as this as during those ages they were at United..
the other is two places for players from that association which means players that have been playing in that league for 3 seasons.. i.e hasselbaink.. ruud etc
this increases to three places and then four places in the next 2 seasons
hargreaves would be ok for any german side or for Bryan Minich as he came through their youth system but if he went to England he couldn't fill up one of the 4 spaces in the as he hasn't played in the premiership or bing developed by a premiership clubs youth system

Thats not how I read it.

Of those totals, half must have trained with the club for three seasons between the ages of 15 and 21, while the other half must have completed the same period of training for another club in the same national association.

From the horses mouth
Quote:
Definitions
A club-trained player is defined as a player who has been registered for a minimum of three seasons with the club between the age of 15 and 21, whereas an association-trained player is a player who has been registered for at least three seasons by the club or by other clubs affiliated to the same association of the said club between the age of 15 and 21.
