Oh so the UK Government increased wage to £15 an hour?

When?

I'll pass thanks - I have zero interest in U.S politics. Because like others that frequent on here, we're in the UK.

£15 isn’t equivalent to $15. And what what equates to in your hands after health insurance, taxes etc it’d be interesting to know.

What it equals to is irrelevant. The UK government has increased the living wage in increments over several years. Some U.S States pay as low $7.25 per hour as a minimum. To double it like that would cripple businesses, which would lead to job losses.

What it equals isn’t relevant? Of course it does. That’s why GDP per capita is often then adjusted to purchasing power parity to note that £1 in the UK isn’t the same as £1 in the Middle East and isn’t the same as £1 in Africa.

Some may argue a business that can’t afford to pay above $7.25 an hour is barely a viable business at all. Capitalism says it deserves to die, not survive on the backs of workers who cannot afford to live.

That said, I’ve zero interest in US politics. If they don’t want to address inequalities they can do as they wish, and live with the poisonous legacy that it generates.

			JFYI, $15 = £11, near enough.

I've deleted a number of posts because of my misunderstanding.

I didn't take "near enough" as rounding £10.9x to £11 - I took it as a comparison to $15 = £15.

Apologies for the misunderstanding and I've deleted intermediate posts to not waste anyones time.

Exactly.

Yup. It has flattened pay at the bottom of the scale, with many who were just above NMW having pay freezes.

NMW has no regard for job skills.
