Or just press and hold the power button on the box for 5 seconds (until the lights flash)- let go and reboot ye shall have.

"Clear or Reset TiVo Box" sounds a bit fatal for settings?

That would be the "Clear Programme Info & Planned Recs" or "Clear & Delete Everything" options on the last menu.

Hey, Taf, it's the former, not the latter! Steady as you go... :

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
I did the procedure last evening. No sign that it has improved things though.

Put your left thumb over the IR sensor (it's just to the left of the green power LED), then operate the menus using the buttons on the TiVo itself. Does it now go faster?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Could it be a "Cardiff" problem ? had letter today about upgrade work next month & with my Tivo its a race between it and paint drying which will be finished first.
I use smart TV when ever I can i.e Netflix or I type players so much quicker.
Just hope Virgin Scrap them sooner rather than later.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
I've given up using the TiVo as anything but a DVR. It's still very solid at that. Chromecast is an infinitely preferable way of accessing Netflix and iPlayer. With the proliferation of cheap "smart" add-ons I can't see Tivo's apps gaining any significant traction even if they bring out a new souped up box. TiVo apps are almost always going to be less well maintained and updated and for anyone savvy enough to be interested in over-the-top services like Netflix £30 is a no-brainer to be part of a large, well looked after pool of users.
Back in the day, the separate 10Mb/s modem seemed like a big benefit. Now with 200Mb/s broadband it's irrelevant.

We got the letter too. Whether it is for TV and/or Broadband is not mentioned.
I talked with other VM users locally, and they are all having slow reaction times from TIVO, plus lots a outages of internet.

Fair enough, it's always worth checking for IR interference causing a slow box. You'll have to give VM a call if you want it investigating further.
I'm not aware of any general Cardiff problems at the moment.

I tend to watch TV in a totally dark room. No IR sources at all.
"Maintenance" due on 13th November on both BB and TV locally. Maybe that will sort it?

I bet you have the TV switched on . The backlight on some TVs can play havoc with IR receivers. Supposedly-passive PIR burglar alarm sensors can cause problems too.
But if you covered the receiver up properly, we can rule that out.

It's preparatory work for future network capacity upgrades. Nothing that would cause your TiVo to be slow now.
