Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Ah, OK. It's not updated in the TV Anywhere website yet. I'll check my TiVo when I get home.
It's showing on the Android app though.

Surely if I`m watching a channel it should remain on it until I change it.

should have paused it, tied up the tuner so it couldn't start recording anything else.

Surely it must be able to tell if there's an active HDMI connection?

It can and does, but this doesn't influence the recording logic...
An even simpler (and better) solution would be to never use the live tuner for suggestions.

Good idea but which is the live tuner? Can the software tell which tuner is being sent to the TV? If it cant then you don't know which channel is being watched.

Yes it can - it shows the right channel details when you press the Info button

Agreed. At the weekends I often have the TV on the same channel for hours at a time while watching US sports and it's annoying when the TiVo suddenly decides that recording a suggestion is more important than what I'm watching.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
I hope we do one day get a decent cable box be it TiVo or other.
Had TiVo for years at several addresses and several boxes, yet they have always been so damn slow, I hate them.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Far too many posts for me to read but this is my personal experience of Tivo.
About 2 months ago I was contacted by VM to say we can reduce your monthly bill by just over £3, we can double your internet speed to up to 100 and we can give you a free Tivo box with free fitting.
The wife and I now wish we hadn't have bothered as I miss my surfing of Text messages keeping up to date with Football, cricket scores, news etc
The Tivo is a lot slower than my old box and not so easy to navigate On demand etc
OK it does record progs but we do not bother with that option anyway.
So now we are are stuck with this box unless I pay up to revert.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Thanks Ben, I have given that a try and it works but IMHO it is a lot slower and less clear than the former way with my old box.
Every now and again the screen seems to freeze for less than a second and then the programme bar comes up at the bottom of the screen showing which prog I am watching, more annoying to the wife than it is to me.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
OK Guys, the wife is still giving me earache about how slow the Tivo on demand etc is.
I know that I can ring VM retetions but first I would like some advice.
Can I switch back to my old type of box without too much expense, we have no interest in using TV in another room or for recording progs.
When i was first contacted by VM I was offered double broadband speed, new Tivo box fitted free and approx £3 per month less to pay.
I can just about accept Tivo but I am not as satisfied as I was with the old box.
FWIW the Tivo was fitted about 8 weeks ago.
TIA

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Not sure if you will be able to go back to the old V+ box. As far as I know, nobody is getting them anymore. For a definitive answer, you do need to call retentions tomorrow morning. They don't open on Sundays.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Is anyone else having troubles with BT Sports red button. On first attempt I wait at one moment then a white arrow appears around what should be a box, the match choice boxes but there is no match choice page, the whole graphic doesn't appear so the normal channel keeps going with a white arrow. Exiting the red button function then going back in sorts it out.
