Heck, I just wanted to use the opportunity to get rid of him. I think that he is a waste of space. Now that looks like it has gone with United saying that they will not sell.

Unfortunately diving is a fact of football...I accepted that ages ago and moved on...

Hmmm, it was bad at the time, I think if you ask him now he may well say it was a positive experience and has made him a stronger person, certainly you can only admire the way he came through it, sadly though I don't think Ronaldo has the same strength of character to do the same.

Heck, if I was him - because of the shame and reputation of being a 'cry wolf' all to often, I would be quitting football all together and perhaps go back to learning how a proper 'true' game of football is meant to be played.

He certainly handled it well. That year he came second in the European player of the year. Not to sure if he'd class as having to listen to people saying they hope his wife and son were dead as a positive experience though.

Probably should of put 'as it' instead of 'and'

It probabley does apply to 100%, the beautiful game is almost unrecognisable now.

I've never really liked ronaldo, since I think it was euro 2004, there was just something about him.

The last time I saw a player do something truly honest was Di Canio (not the time he pushed the ref over). When he grabbed the ball when he had an open goal and the keeper was injured, I remember thinking at the time what a gesture, I hope it doesn't cost us a place in Europe, it did. Come to think of it you would hardly hold him up as a role model either what with his fascist views.
