I thought it noteworthy to mention for comparison and general interest.

Ok, thanks, i'll try this out when I can

The rebooting between 2 and 3am is normal as far as I know. I'm always losing chunks of overnight recordings because of it and have seen numerous complaints about it over the years. I think someone on here said everyones Tivo is rebooted regularly as a matter of course, although Virgin seem to have a stock 'explanation' about "regional maintenance". If you have a fault that meant the update keeps reinstalling it takes considerably longer that the 10 minutes or so it takes to reboot.
Would be astonished they have not fixed the major fault with recordings not working but seen it all before too many times, like last years fault with Dolby Digital that most people are still waiting to be fixed. Obviously a lot more people are affected by the new faults as can be seen from all the complaints. Virgin aren't even in a hurry to remove the "we made your Tivo even better" box.

The olympics start in just over two weeks. Will the roll out of new software be complete before then or will it be suspended?

Richard's box wasn't due a scheduled reboot, and there was no engineering work in his region yesterday. The behaviour he describes is not normal.

Well the roll-out certainly won't be complete, and it may not have even started by then. But there isn't a change freeze for the Olympics this year.

It's just rebooing itself again as I write this, just my luck to get a duff box.
It was going really slow and I was just about to check when I could reboot it without disrupting any recordings and it did it itself.
It's recording almost continuously, so ill have to work out when I can rebuild the planner.
Will this mean that I have to set all my Series Links again (I have about 400)?
Will it affect thumbs up/Suggestions?
---------- Post added at 20:35 ---------- Previous post was at 19:28 ----------
And an hour later, another reboot.
I'm also getting odd codes on Channel 5 that nobody else has reported:

I fear SP is right about my box

Clear Programme Info & Planned Recs won't affect your series links, thumbs or suggestions.

Thats good.
I take it that Series Links gradually populate the Planned Recordings screen again and this is why you advised me not to do it if there were any imminent recordings due.
I've never done this before, don't think that it was even possible with the V+.

Ho, does anyone know the schedule for the roll out? We live on the Cambridgeshire/Suffolk borders.

Re: Major TiVo update started about 3:20am.
There isn't one yet as the update is still in pilot.

Correct.
I'm far from certain that it's going to fix it, but it's better than a box swap.

Well presumable the pilot has been stopped and the major fault with it not recording is being fixed as a top priority? When will those of those who Virgin Media have chosen as unwilling un-payed testers going to get a working solution? Or are Virgin Media buying their heads in the sand again and plodding on regardless and ignoring the new fault like they did last year with Dolby Digital and on going issues with very slow user interface.

Will a reboot or 'Connect to VM' straight after restore my 'Planned Recordings' more quickly?
I believe the process takes ages and i'm having difficulty finding a suitable time slot.

Reboot and connect are part of the process anyway.
