What a difference a year makes
In 2013 they were reportedly (by various people) just around the corner

It might be the New Year but Dave the pessimist is still alive and well.

Round the corner could be construed as how long is a piece of string.

I've certainly not seen that info , WWE network in the USA is bypassing the cable/satellite companies to launch a digital version available on PC/Laptop , Roku , Android , IOS , PS3/4 , Xbox etc according to wikipedia they also say that DirecTV in the US issued a statement saying they were re-evaluating whether to continue carrying WWE PPV events because the PPV events would also be available on WWE network once it launches.
It would certainly appear nothing has been decided as of yet , I guess they've a few options strike another deal with Sky , try and find a new broadcast partner or go it alone via online and connected devices.

Funny enough A friend of mine on the train mentioned this above and something about using Netflix as a possible portal(?) Certainly he was suggesting WWE now considering bypassing suppliers and doing things direct with the consumer in essence IPTV especially with PPV

They weren't so quick bringing video on demand to satellite viewers. It's been on cable for years.

Maybe we've been talking about it too much and now the Virgin Media Viewer has decided we can't have these channels...

Or people were just plain wrong?
With regard to Sky Atlantic, I was rooting for them to be right, so disappointed. But there are now a couple of other ways to get HBO content.
Re VOD, you're correct, but it seems to me that when they did do it, they went to town with it and are now leading VM in this area?

Are they? They don't have Netflix, so when it comes to content, VM are still in the lead.

People have been able to get Netflix without Tivo, ever since it launched in the UK, and many people have.
Just because you have been reluctant to add another, inexpensive box to your TV, doesn't mean other people are. Also, many people don't need to add another box because many of their existing equipment, if bought within the last couple of years already has Netflix.
So, in my view, VM having Netflix doesn't count, especially as it's not free with the VM service, which is the case with other OD content.

Well it does count, because it's not on Sky. You have to pay for some of the OD content on Sky, as you well know.
