Re: [MERGED] Windows 8 discussion
Update: I contacted support this evening and a very helpful tech installed a repair tool that fixed my activation automatically so I am fully up and running now. Good job by the tech. Just hope windows 8 doesn't fall on it's posterior again.

It killed my key by the looks of it, i am back on windows 7 at the moment evaluating my position in regards a new key.
My problems are with gaming and in particular Cod 4, windows 8 will not run it without crashing. There is a interaction between punk buster and windows 8

did you do a clean install of windows 8 because I can use cod 4 on mine if you upgraded over 7 maybe you would have to reinstall cod that should work

Cheers.
I count myself as pretty lucky as I've never had any problems with any operating systems other than Vista. Although I only ever had MS-DOS (5 and 6), Windows 98, XP, Linux, Vista and now Windows 8.

Re: [MERGED] Windows 8 discussion
Never mind, managed to setup a local account which shows my name.
I'm glad I decided to go for it at £15, the preview I used was not as good as what I am using now. Loaded my start screen up with loads of apps, all free of course, and am enjoying it. Will gladly say I was wrong about it, and would urge everyone to upgrade to Windows 8. I'm a proud convert.

Re: [MERGED] Windows 8 discussion
Got two copies of 8 Pro in the end, can't really say no for £25 per copy, heh
Took some getting used to, but it's basically Windows 7 with a new UI slapped on it for touch/gesture screens.
After installing the Classic Startmenu addon (freeware, yay) and putting back the quick launch bar, I feel right at home
It's definitely faster than Windows 7, on startup and shutdown.
I'm growing to like it (minus the stupid Metro thing, which thankfully, I no longer have to see or use)

Re: [MERGED] Windows 8 discussion
I think had MS not done that offer of £15 for those who had bought a new Windows 7 PC I might not have taken the plunge and bought it. I actually quite like the metro screen, I have quite a few useful apps pinned there which keep me up to date with a lot of news and weather.

Re: [MERGED] Windows 8 discussion
Still a bargain for £25 i think while it is on offer, and i can still go back to Windows 7 if i don't get on with it.
