It means it can't upscale lower resolutions to 1080p. It can only show 1080p if the source is 1080p. Currently Netflix is the only 1080p source available.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
General Tivo discussion so I hope I have posted in the right place? I've looked for discussions on this and I've probably missed them but here goes.
I have a TiVo box in my front room attached to my LG TV. What I would like to know is can I run and connect a cable onto the TiVo box and run it to either my Samsung TV or a virgin+ box that I have in my bedroom. I know I will have to watch what ever is on the TiVo box in my bedroom but I don't care about that. There will be only seven feet between TVs as the wall that has the main TV is the wall of the landing and the next back wall is my bedroom so its basically back to back with a landing between them. So to recap I have two TVs and a subscribed TiVo box and a spare Virgin+ box. And I want to know what is the best way to get a signal from the TiVo to either my spare TV utising the V+ box or not.
Sorry for the long winded explanation just didn't want to leave anything out,
Thank you for your help.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
You have a few options. I'm assuming the LG TV is connected by HDMI to the TiVo.
1) Get an HDMI splitter, and run a HDMI lead into the bedroom. (Assumes the Samsung TV has an HDMI input)
2) Run a SCART lead from the TiVo to the Bedroom. (Assumes the Samsung TV has a SCART input. You'll only get SD pictures in the bedroom this way)
3) Get a video sender, and connect to the SCART socket on the TV. Again this is SD only, but an advantage over the other two is it will let you change channel from the bedroom. Also requires no hole drilling or trailing cables.
You can't make use of the V+ in this situation. If it was made by Samsung and is no longer active on your account, please return it to VM. Scientific-Atlanta boxes are no longer collected so you can recycle those.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Has anyone here successfully split their Tivo signal?
I bought a powered HDMI splitter to do this ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001D9P1O...=hdmi+splitter) I want to have one cable to go to my Samsung TV and another one to my Xbox One. I cannot get a picture to pass through the splitter I know the splitter is working because I tried it with my Virgin HD box upstairs and that works perfect.
By trying different cables I manged to get a very distorted pink picture but that's it so it must be that the TIVO is not able to do it.
Unless someone here knows different!

Try reducing the output on your Tivo to 720p - lots of splitters won't handle anything above this (even when they claim they will).

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
I seen reports that that Neet splitter works well with TiVo.
Do you get a picture if you disconnect the XBox One? I've seen quite a few cases where TiVo output passed through an XBox One causes weird problems.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
We've got a Neet splitter working with TiVo and a projector that works fine.

Thank you very much spiderplant that was more than I expected (turn over the channels as well) I presume these items I can buy from amazon in various lengths so I can reach the said equipment from each room. Yes both TVs are high spec TVs and have at least three HDMI inputs a couple of Usbs and scarts. Lets hope I can get the configuration right that you suggested lol
One other thing if I may. If I want to add a third TV (there is one downstairs in a chill out room) can I add to the configuration you said and could you please tell me how would I do it??
Top Draw Spiderplant thank you very much

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
You can buy everything from Amazon. Use the link on the forum home page if you want to support the running of the forum.
To run three TVs, I'd suggest using an HDMI splitter to feed the two upstairs TVs, and a SCART-connected video sender to feed the one downstairs. Alternatively, 3- or 4-way HDMI splitters are available, but I have no experience of these.
When shopping, beware that an HDMI switch is not the same thing as an HDMI splitter. A switch is to connect two or more devices to one TV.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Hi Spiderplant
Would something like this work
h**p://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IR-Infra-Red-Remote-Control-Extender-Kit-Sender-Transmitter-over-RF-005892-/190787154754
would 5.4Ghz be better than 2.4Ghz
Ive been reading up some posts from around the net and it seems that the wireless sender kits give out really bad end results on your tv screen, grainy and poor quality. I don't want this to happen as its important to have them both crystal clear. I don't want to leave it to chance so would laying wire down be better. I have no carpets down yet so if its possible I would like to do it now instead of later so they can be hidden.

Yes that should work. (I take it you're aware it's only an IR sender. It won't send the video to the TV. Most video senders have an IR sender built in for free)

Probably, but I can't guarantee it as it depends what interference there is in the area, and what materials the signal has to go through.

The quality of video senders depends on the interference in the area. It can be excellent; it can be rubbish. But if you've got an opportunity to go wired, then do it.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
My Tivo has been OK since the update until the last couple of days. Now getting lots of freezing on both live and recorded stuff. Tried a reboot earlier and now it is taking between 5 and 10 seconds to change channels.

Mine's been a bit slow as well. If it becomes a problem, you need to report it to Customer Services, as will I.
