Or am i just being cynical

I wouldn't put it past them, that's why he was "too bothered" about loosing button. I think they chose Schumi as a man to deliver results, based on past history. Ross, probably has a lot resting on this deal and of course, needs to prove to Mercedes that last season wasn't just a fluke

Given the lack of news lately thought you might be interested in a series of articles on the James Allen blog; various luminaries have speculated what the future of F1 might be., closed wheel, 500c turbo charged, who knows.....

The series runs;

Cars
Engines
Aero
Materials & Safety
Simulation Gaming

Here is the link to the first in the series, enjoy...

Briatori. A French court has overturned Flavio Briatore's lifetime ban from F1 and motorsport, he has been cleared to make a full return to the sport.

Looks as though he has given Max Mosley a spanking, but I don't think he will mind that, hehe.

Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

the trouble is he manages a lot of drivers as well as GP2, not sure if he is involved in GP3.

This is also bad news for F1 as he challenge this in a Paris court which means any decision the FIA make can be challenge through a normal court and not their own system

Amazing coincidence that the Flav story comes out on the same day as the Renault press office issue a Q&A with the new Team Manager

The important issue is his involvement with other sports, such as football. These governing bodies have rules about being banned by other regulators.

Not strictly F1 news, but I thought the petrol heads would probably subscribe to this thread anyway.

Bernie Ecclestone has joined forces with the financiers behind the recent purchase of the Renault F1 team in a bid to buy SAAB.

Possible conflict of interests?

That would be great news and one of the very few nice things he would have done in recent years. As a life long fan of the marque, I was deeply sadden to hear of their demise.

Not really. Genii own Renault, but they don't have the money to buy Saab, so they're using Bernie's money to buy the car company instead of their own.

Crashgate--The next chapter.

Piquet Jr to race in NASACR in 2010. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80819

If Villeneuve and Franchitti could not make it in NASCAR, and they had an established US track record, I don't give Piquet a prayer.

Sorry
