Guardian says "Current TV's five-year deal to be carried on Virgin Media also expires in March. Both companies said negotiations were ongoing."
So may it will be Virgin only or even Virgin may take it over and rebrand it Virgin1?

Definately no chance of Virgin taking it over. Virgin don't want to run channels, it's not their business focus

They do have some good programmes on there, but it got drowned out by all the other dross on the channel itself and "hidden" somewhere in Sky's/VM's EPGs where no one could find the channel, didn't help either.
The question for channels and platform providers like VM is how do how do you match up the good "stuff" (programmes) with those people that wish to watch them?
I have found some very good and intelligent programmes on Current and wish there was more of this type of programming. But in all honesty, since the channel has been on air, I've watched it no more that a couple of dozen times.
Perhaps someone should come up with a "revolutionary" new idea and put all new shows/decent stuff on 2/3 channels where everyone would be able to find the new shows easily and give more niche programming such as documentaries a wider audience. We could call the channels broadcasters....
RIP Current.

+1.
I have aslo watched some very good documentaries on current TV i am not into reality TV at all and dross type programming,it would be a shame to lose a channel that does offfer something for the thinking person as a pose to couch potato fayre.
I tend to check channels such as current, discovery,National Geographic, ect ,ect, frequently for a worthwhile watch.

What i would like to see though is say VM go into business with Netflix or ESPN or similar and bid for sports, film rights that can then be broadcast on said EPSN channel just to give SKY a run for their money.
That way VM would get more viewers, more money but not have to worry about running channels.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2012) Vol. 1
Well if Current TV do stop broadcasting, I wonder if they would consider selling access to their entire back catalogue of programmes to Virgin. Virgin could then add the content to their On Demand offering. Would be a great piece of business for both parties.
Virgins On Demand offering is great but I personally feel there is still plenty of room for quailty factual entertainment.

Sounds like the deal Virgin had with Setanta back in 2007.
http://mediacentre.virginmedia.com/S...s-fans-cb.aspx
"Virgin Media and Setanta Sports today confirmed they are working together to launch a new TV channel, Setanta Sports News. The new channel is expected to launch soon and will be available exclusively, and at no additional cost, to all of Virgin Media's three million digital TV subscribers."

Maybe that is why they are dubious about Premier Sports
