I've just been there and can't see many problems? Which ones are you talking about in particular?

Take off your VM supplied rose tinted glasses DF and go back and have another look and you will see several examples of not so happy new TiVo customers.

The parental controls seems to be throwing up some problems.
And the much trumpeted backwards EPG for catch up dosen't seem that wonderful at the minute, some programmes just takes you to the regular Catch Up menus by the looks of it, there is not always direct playback of the show from the EPG, sounds like a work in progress.
And as I mentioned no red button, in fact it sounds like it hasn't got any interactive features as we know it at all. And no dynamic EPG either.
I have no first hand knowledge though so if all that is wrong I apologise.
On the plus side people say there is much to like though but they seem to be some of the problems so far, it's clearly a very soft launch with some glitches to iron out which i'm sure they will soon, indeed some applications we enjoy now are simply not available at all currently.

Mmmm not so sure now I've taken a look at the TiVo forums, a fair few things to iron out at the moment. now I'm glad I haven't had the call yet as I'm thinking I just might wait a few months till it's all working as it should be.

I guess glitches are to be expected but completely missing applications like BBC red button and the third tuner issue that we knew anyway suggest it isn't really quite ready yet.
Mind you I bet loads of people would rather have it warts and all sooner than later.

Re: TiVo
The only thing I've seen that bothers me is they've removed the 'channels I receive' selection which makes wishlists a lot less useful than they were on the S1, as they'll pick up loads of cruft from channels you have no intention of watching.
Nothing else there to worry about, that I can see, and I've read just about every post on tivocommunity since before people started getting them. Mostly just stuff not implemented yet, which we know about - as VM keep telling us, it's not launched yet..

Maybe thats why its not officially released yet? There is no mention of Tivo on the "Multimillion" pound advertising campaign.
Its bassically in a semi open beta.

So far I am impressed with the box. Much quicker than the old V+ box. But as others have said, I am a bit disappointed that the catch up doesn't work the way I expected but I understand it will be getting updated soon.
I think Virgin should hold their hands up and say we are beta testers and not charge us the £3 a month until it is ready for full roll out. But saying that, let the try and take it away

Yeah, he said something about if the return path ip address wasn't being picked up automatically there was a workaround to force it in (input it manually is what I think he meant). But once he plugged the cable in it got everything it was meant to itself.
I was his first TiVo install so he was following printed out instructions, guess they forgot to add the bit about plugging the cable in

Re: TiVo
Ben says the backwards EPG does work as it should, it's just at the minute it's a bit slower than VM would like so there is a bit of a lag hence you get presented with the catch up screens so that is good news and will hopefully be ironed out.
I love the idea of recording from the buffer, very useful on a channel that dosen't have catch up or on a show that isn't repeated to death.

As you are no longer in contract you are now going around posting a lot of bitter sounding posts, as it turns out this was the installers first TiVo and obviously he was nervous and forgot something obvious, it happens.
Get a grip as they have let you cancel your contract and you will not be getting TiVo which was your choice regardless of how much your bill has cost you.
It was possible that you were due a phone call but you will never know so let it go.

Re: TiVo
I have just had a chat with VM about my install and wondering if someone can confirm my understanding of a billing issue.
I currently have a V+ and a Samsung V box. We pay £15 for the additional box but get a 9.40 discount applied. When the VM called about the Tivo install, I asked that the Tivo is installed in place of the V+ and the V+ replace the Samsung Vbox. This wasn't a problem.
Now the wife is worried that the V+ box is a bit too damn noisy for a bedroom so I called them up and asked if they could just take away with the V+ box and give us a VHD box as a replacement for the samsung vbox.
Basically, seems that even though the V+ is more capable than a VHD box, I'd still have to pay for the new box. That's a bit disappointing, but the bit that worried me was that she said if the V+ was taken away then the additional box discount would go too. So I'd end up paying £15 a month for the additional box.
That seems a bit odd to me, or maybe I've misunderstood ?

Re: TiVo
I have a sinking feeling that I got my call from VM about Tivo a couple of weeks ago & I cut them off. I had one of those calls where there is no-one on the other end of the line for a long time, clearly from a call centre. Just as I lost patience & pressed the button to disconnect I heard the words, 'Hello, I'm calling from Virgi...'.
Haven't heard a dickie bird since & I'm one of the people who contacted the CEO office last year, on VIP50, pre-registered for Tivo info in the first few days & been with VM for over ten years. I'm just hoping that the call operator didn't press the 'not interested' button when I put the phone down & I've lost my place in the queue.

The pay to swap out the V+ HD box for the V HD box is correct at present. Unfortunately it's just the way the pricing currently works
However the Additional box cost should go up - as you will still have HD boxes on the account, which is the reason it's reduced.

I've two of these messages on my answer phone, just chatter in the background, clearly from a call centre.
Unfortunately the way VM are handling this means there is nothing you can do about it. As any call to 151 is pointless, as they can't even check if anyone has tried to call you.
