Proves the point that Arse are a good team, not a great team and a huge part to get that status is winning back to back championships.
Last season they were good but counts for nothing this season.
Watched the game on MOTD against Bolton and they were very, very dire!

He'll spend millions, if they don't fit he just discards them.

You wait till he's had enough of the whole team like he did in Russia a few years ago, he'll drop them like a bomb, Chelsea cannot survive without his money, he's got players on mega money, the gate recipts, tv money, merchandise etc etc come nowhere near to covering the clubs expenses. I'll give him another season then he'll go to America to sample American football or baseball.

Re: [Merged] Football talk
Wednesday night is the big night of FA cup football and if my boys succumb to the excellence of Exeter then I hereby promise to pay £100 to Scooby/Graham F/my other half. Somehow I don't think I'll end up paying, I mean Exeter for gods sake but I sincerely hope they're not famous last words cos I'm gonna get some serious stick on Friday night and have to resign from the Forum in shame.......

Re: [Merged] Football talk
Beckham has said he'd like to go back to Man U if he ever left Real Madrid.. even if Fergie was still there..
interesting that he would say that now when he's not playing well and rumoured to be on the new coaches hit list..
I'd like to see him back as no one can cross the ball as well as him and he's more consistant than Ronaldo and has more vision for passing to other team mates..
not sure if i'd like all the off field circus that goes with him though..
in other news our World Cup winner Kleberson is a target for Benfica.. i've seen more of him in the papers than i have on the pitch.. still not even sure if he is an attacking midfielder.. defensive or winger

Better with us than Chelsea. It would indeed be a sad day for football if he went there.

Re: [Merged] Football talk
We don't want football in the UK to be all about buying power, there needs to be more home grown talent coming through the clubs themselves. Chelsea is all about spending and many other clubs are following their lead. Although United have been partially guilty of this, their youth policy is well documented and this way of cultivating players is IMO the best way to bring talent in to the game. Chelsea are leading the way in to taking the game apart. This may be the footballing culture in other countries (Spain, for instance) but it's certainly not wanted here.

Re: [Merged] Football talk
Buying power means naff all if it's poorly managed though.
Blackburn, Newcastle, Liverpool are testament to the assertation money does not buy success- and Bolton, Everton etc on the other hand!
Chelsea just happen to not only have the cash but the right manager. And the key players (Terry, Lampard) were all there pre-Abramovich. Mourinho is the closest thing to OBE in the game, arrogant with the talent to match.
What Chelsea are doing is no different to what Manure and the Arse have done, albeit on a faster timescale, and they could well walk away with a clean sweep of 4 trophies this season.

Except 'Manure' have an unrivaled youth policy history.

There is a difference in that Man Utd and Arsenal have earnt the money they spend by being successful and good business practices.
I'm sure every team would love a Sugar Daddy.
I'm sure Notts Forest fans would like it if someone like Abramovich took over from your current chairman.

Yes but also enough money to spend on van Nistlerooy, Forlan, Taibi, Barthez, Ferdinand, Heinze, Saha, Smith, Keane (from whom ), Silvestre, etc etc.
They have a youth setup which has produced players for them- but they've also bought a fair whack as well.
Chelsea have brought a fair few through as well- Huth, Terry, and developed other players they've bought - Lampard, Gudjohnsen.
Fact is money does NOT buy success which was my point.

Yes I would, IMO our chairman is a ******* ******, a ****, ****, **** and want him out now. But that misses the point.
Man U have a massive fanbase worldwide, they fill the ground practically every game, countless others in merchandise and MuTV- and it was almost as big before '92 as well.
Arsenal not so much- Wenger has been astute and they are in debt- manageable though- but still spent money on the squad.
Success breeds success and Chelsea will probably get substantial return in prize money, etc, on the initial outlay, as Manure and Arse have done.
Not really success and good business practice.
