I was born in Rochdale and my grandfather used to take me to see the Dale, I moved to Oldham in 1961 and went to watch the Latics as often as possible and even though I have worked most Saturdays for the past 25 years still catch the occasional game.
I have also supported the Mighty Reds from just before the Munich disaster and used to go to Old Trafford every other Saturday in the late sixties, so I have seen Charlton, Best & The King ( long before Cantona) in their prime, again work prevented me from keeping up my attendance. So I think I have every right to support all three teams.
To answer your other question, when Oldham played United in the premiership or the FA Cup I always wanted Oldham to win, United are a big enough club to lose the odd game without it costing them to much, pity about the late equaliser from Sparky a few years back in the FA Cup, the Latics never recovered from that and got relegated at the end of that season.

Re: [Merged] Football talk
You can support as many as you want - I lived in Ardwick for 4 years up until I was 8 and developed a taste for Man United, then moved back to Port Talbot and started following the Swans as well.

i was born in 78 so missed most of our best players.. it's annoying that there's so little footage of Edwards and the 58 team.. and you are right there is only one King.. Denis Law

He brings back memories
I have to admit that I follow Oldham's and Sunderland's (my mum's team) results.

Re: [Merged] Football talk
Looks like SAF has gone for a three quarters senior squad then.
We're still gonna get stuffed.

Re: [Merged] Football talk
No, which surprised me. If I'd not got exams I'd have watched it, but from what I've heard it was about as good as watching paint dry.
Second leg should be interesting...
BTW who's first choice, Carroll or Howard?

You heard wrong, it was a very good game. Very open.
I believe Carroll is still number one, Howard was always going to play these two matches.

Why rotate the keeper? Ron Greenwood did it (wrongly) with Shilton and Clemence.
The keeper is the most important link in the side. If you don't concede you don't lose. Therefore you should have a definite first choice and play him when available.
Another of Clough (RIP)'s great philosophies. A lot you could learn from listening to him (or reading his 442 column) or watching his sides play...

Why not? Hasn't caused a problem yet, keeps the competition up.

IMO a different keeper affects the defence, the uncertainty leads to conceding sloppy goals.
You'll be surprised how much a keeper and defence get accustomed to each other.
[Probs a hint of jealousy in the fact the Reds have one decent keeper (Gerrard) and two gash ones (Doyle and Roche)]
