I see a lot of the 'purple' ring on screen daily, though I rarely saw the 'red' ring.
Having a NowTV box and a Chromecast to use similar features/apps really does show how bad Tivo is at doing good the same thing.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Bit the bullet yesterday afternoon - went out to the garage, dusted off the old Sky+HD and scrambled about in the dust behind the AV unit (will clean when the light nights come ) and reconnected everything. Still worked, so I rang Sky and asked to be put on the Family Pack @ £33pm. OK says Sam, for an extra £5pm I can give you Movies & Sport all in HD, 12 month deal - thanks very much. Now looking forward to next July when I can call VM and say thanks, but no thanks.
Not just the slowness of the Tivo which caused this but it was the last straw. The other problems are not particularly Tivo related but EPG, lack of 5.1 On Demand and even lack of HD On Demand, none of which are problems with Sky. Happy to give specifics if required but I am aware this isn't the forum for those issues.

Never used to take that long, perhaps a minute or more though.
Will try capture a few more of the TiVo screens, but going into Home > On Demand or Search & Discover has been pretty slow of late.
Reboot fixes it for a day or so, but then back to a good 4 or 5 seconds usually between screens.

Just tried Netflix launch times on my devices:
Tivo 1 min 45 seconds (new Netflix UI)
LG Bluray 30 seconds (new Netflix UI)
WD TV 35 seconds (old Netflix UI)
I'm not finding the Tivo slow since the update on standard menus, but I don't use it as much as I used to these days, in case that would make a difference?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
Now this may be just a coincidence but over the last few weeks I have noticed the colours looking all washed out. And no it's not the TV, I've used the built in tuner and the colours are more crisper.
Anyone else had this problem?

I checked the resolution settings and indeed it was on 1080i (I hadn't changed it) so am I dreaming or did it really change on it's own?

You're not dreaming. This is been reported occasionally ever since TiVo launched, but we've only just found out why it happens. Each time the TiVo reboots it checks the TV is compatible with the current resolution. But if the TV is turned off (as is usually the case when the software is updated) the check may not work properly, so the TiVo switches to a lower resolution.
Thanks all for the performance reports. Keep them coming.

seeing similar sorts of things, the worst and most irritating is the sound drop out going from tv guide back to viewing tv
after what 5 years? and its basically still a bug riddled slow mess of an operation.
ridiculous.

So it's £38 for all TV?, apart from BT Sport?
Bit hard to turn that down. I need to stop being a loyal customer and flit between the two, you just get shafted otherwise.

I got the update 2 weeks ago and ever since the update the TV picture has been bad even in HD.
to me they have gone backwards with the update and made Tivo worse.

I'm glad somebody else has said this. I watched a couple of things yesterday and was thinking the same. That said I watched something on Universal the otther day and it was excellent.
