As a neutral there is such an anti Chelsea feeling in football nowadays, and I think it goes down to the jealousy people have in terms of the money available to Chelsea.
I reckon if Chelsea played the national German team in a game, they'd still be more people in the UK wanting the germans to win, simply because they are playing Chelsea.

I'll happily admit I'm anti-Chelsea simply because of how they're ruining the game. They pick up players then throw them away if they don't "fit" just a like a child would, picking out sweets. Jose is definately a top manager but if he left, then they'd carrying on splashing the cash on players, leaving the rest of the pack having no chance.
In the 90s United were accused of whinging and moaning but we never had Chelsea's spending power, we were never guaranteed the best players. We never bought the title. People talk about the money spent on Rooney and Rio but we'd established ourselves long before they came along.
There's nothing wrong with a team having money to spend on players but when they refuse to accept that their success is down to that, THEN they're fair game for the rest of us to have a go.

i totally agree i have many chelsea fans who are mates of mine and they always moan at me that Utd bought the title. em No we didnt we used youth and some transfers to win premiership how many players can Chelsea say came via academys or youth setup?? Utd created their own History in 90s and Chelsea are buying theirs !

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
yes most people don't Chelsea because of how they got their money.. without Roman they wouldn't be half the club they are.. he's spent nearly 1 billion and can still spend another 200m in the summer just to win the Euro Cup next year.. whenever they loose they never get beaten by a better side it's always because of this or that.. when they lost to Fulham why not just say yes it was handball and we lost because we didn't play well.. Fulham should have had a pen anyway
was reading an article about Chelsea a few weeks ago.. they aren't really a big club.. their core support of fans is only about 8,000 to 10,000 with the rest being casual fans and people jumping on the winning band wagon.. they've only won one league title before Roman came and 2 Cup Winners Cups.. plus the odd Fa Cup.. when they released the DVD of their title winning season it only sold about 3000 copies... shows how many true fans they actually have
as you said United do do alot of the same things and if Roman had bought them instead of the Glazers pump 500m into the club i'm sure we won't be complaining that much either

So Chelsea spend more in one season than Utd or Liverpool or Arsenal spent in say 5. But there's more to winning the Premiership than spending money on players. I wouldnt say Drogba is as good as Van Nisteroy, Id say Ronaldo is better than Robben and that Rooney is unstoppable. But as a unit Chelsea do seem unstoppable, and I dont think you can buy that as such.
As far as 'throwing away' the players that dont fit, most teams put players out to loan when they arent part of their first squad. Of the notable one's Chelsea 'threw away' last season, you had Crespo who played in a Euro Cup final.
You're right, Utd never bought the title, but I dont think Chelsea did either. I think it was more of a case of other teams simply giving up, going into games feeling that because theyve (Chelsea) spent so much they will win. Also about Chelsea having the money, yes its true they do, but they are at a disadvantage in terms that they have to pay over the odds for a player they want. Take Shaun Wright Phillips, as soon as Chelsea are interested, Man City put the price up to 20 plus million, which only Chelsea can afford, effectively pricing everyone else out. As Mourinho says there's a Chelsea proce and the rest of the Premiership price.

And they've only got themselves to blame.
Of all the teams who've "given up" as you put it, I'd say the only noticeable one would be Arsenal.

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
As a Man U fan i think the whole Chelsea saga is a big test for fergie and i like it, it should fire the old dog up for one last surge of supremacy before retirement. once he builds the midfield in his new image our squad shall equal Chelseas as currently we arent far off.
to say id prefer if Roman hadnt of bothered with Chelsea or any club would be right also. i think the league would be ALOT more exciting with Chelsea i think sitting 4/5 with Arsenal and United and Liverpool fighting it out for Premiership instead of 2nd place.

Who next for the most thankless job in Scottish football? Oh a countryman of the new owner. Now there is a surprise

2nd place behind Celtic and 6 points clear of Rangers. Yep a shocking performance all round for Hearts.
Still it should make 2nd place easier for Rangers.

Is there a semi final draw? I reckon if there is then its Chelsea Vs Liverpool in the semi. Be nice to see an all London final, shame it cant be hosted in Wembley
