Re: Channel ReShuffle
That is why ntl offer a PIN lock facility, so that you can prevent unwanted viewing of certain channels.

Re: Channel ReShuffle
Channels below 100 are used for those 'hidden' etv channels such as the BBCi streams

The PIN feature on our STB has been acting a bit funny... We were looking on FilmFlex, and wanted to watch a trailer for a 15 rated film, and it asked for the PIN. But when we came to watch the film (the next day) it didn't ask for a PIN!

Re: Channel ReShuffle
Watch trailed before the watershed but view the film after it?

Re: Channel ReShuffle
Horrible, Horrible, Horrible!
Now all the numbers are 3 digit, and the PACE STB remote response isn't exactly crisp

Re: Channel ReShuffle
I subscribe to digiguide, which tells me the channel number for the programme I want to watch - and without spamming, I can say no more

Re: Channel ReShuffle
Blimey, the Bromley lot don't half like a moan!
This is an excellent and welcome change that I've been wanting for years now.
Having used the Telewest system for a couple of years now I can say without reservation that three-digit channels numbers all round is far superior to a mix to one-, two- and three-digit numbers. Contrary to what people are saying, it's actually *faster* to switch channels, because you just type 101 all in one go; previously, you had to type 1 and then wait for several seconds while the box waited to see if you were going to type any more numbers.
Furthermore, to the "what was wrong with the old numbers" brigade: tell me, what sense did it make for Sky Sports 1,2 and 3 to be on channels 41-43 (from memory), Film Four on 44 and Sky Sports Extra on 950? Or the music channels to be in the range from 90-95, then a whole bunch of them spread in the 800s and 900s? There are lots more examples, but I've already forgotten the old channel numbers.
Someone else said that the broadcasters won't welcome the change. On the contrary, they can now advertise a single channel number on all digital cable services, rather than having one for Telewest, then two separate numbers for NTL.
This is an excellent and long overdue change. Bravo NTL. If this is a sign of what Telewest's involvement means, then we've got a lot to look forward to.

Re: Channel ReShuffle
Although I preferred the logic of "1" for BBC 1 etc, I do fully appreciate the need to standardise the platforms for all three systems. When you think that most areas now have Video on Demand, and NTL:Telewest/Virgin is now offering the four for £40, and NTL users now have 150 for faults - we've come a long way.

Re: Channel ReShuffle
If typing in 3 numbers is really a major hassle (I'd love that to be my worries in life) why not go to channel 0 and up twice?

Re: Channel ReShuffle
lol yeah it does not bother me as we had Sky, and I think it is better having them all 3 numbers as it can't just go to "9" like it did before when you wanted "90".
